City Park Brides!!!

I am wondering did you have to deal with a lot of noise during your outdoor wedding? I went to city park this weekend and it was packed with people near the Parkview Terrace and Pavillion of two sisters. Did any of your weddings suffer because of noise?

    I'm doing Parkview Terrace in March and my fiance and I went walking around the grounds last weekend, mid-day and there were a ton of people, most memorable, a lady repeatedly yelling curse words at someone.  

    Is your wedding daytime or evening?

    I was a little put off by the situation and that made me definitely choose a church ceremony.  Good luck!

    You have to remember that this weekend was Jazz Fest and the festival was about a quarter mile from the park so a lot of people were in and out of it. I grew up across the street from the park... If you are having your wedding on a weekend where there is some kind of festival or holiday, then yeah, you'll get a lot of noise. People like to have family reunions and bbq's in the park near in that grassy area that is by Tad Gormley and the Amusement park, and sometimes along City Park Ave. Lots of parents like to bring their kids to the swings too.
    Do you know what part of the park you want to do your ceremony? The peristyle is gorgeous, along with the botanical gardens and the sculpture gardens. http://www.neworleanscitypark.com/weddings.html has all the places you can rent in the park, which can make it a little more intimate and private from the public.

    I wanted to have it on the Terrace at Parkview Terrace around dusk time, or in the Rose garden around dusk. I want it to be romantic so that is what had me a little worried about the noise.

    Is the rose garden in the botanical gardens? The botanical gardens have a fence surrounding it.

    We are having ours at park view terrace with the ceremony right outside in the bandstand in august also at sundown. Im betting on the fact that when there is a ceremony going on people around will probably be watching the ceremony and will be respectful of that. Don't let a little noise deter you, that park atmosphere and background noise is part of it's charm!
