AI resort suggestions

I'm looking for AI resort suggestions that allows kids. My fiance and I were leaning towards resorts in Barbados. However, they are pretty expensive even though the airfare is relativelly cheap. We are hoping not to go anywhere that is overdone, like Jamaica or PuntaCana. We had liked Breezes in Curacao but while the room rates are doable, the airfare seems to be pretty expensive. 

Any suggestions?

    Mexico has great AL resorts and is very reasonable in price. I've only been to Cancun and Cabo. Cabo was more expensive than Cancun but there are many other areas in Mexico as well. If your not into Mexico I'm sure there are many other places to go to. Try contacting a travel agent that can help you with your must haves in resorts.

    Coconut Bay Resort in St. Lucia has an adults only side (Harmony) and a family side (Splash).  It's also not that expensive. The Dreams resorts are in my opinion, are family friendly and offer a lot of the amenities that AO resorts have like 24 hour room service, included mini-bar and premium liquor. Unfortunately, they are mostly in Mexico and the DR which are both very popular, overdone locations.

    Cyrstal Cove Resort in Barbados is kid-friendly,AI and only 30 minutes from the airport. (which is great for little ones who've been traveling all day)  It also has really good reviews on Trip Advisor and isn't that expensive. Are you working with a travel agent or are you negotiating directly with the hotel for a group rate?
