Help With Seating of the Family

I really need some input.  I made the very difficult decision to not have my dad walk me down the aisle, so I will be walking down by myself, which is really the way I prefer it.  However, my parents are divorced, and my dad is not remarried, and I'm unsure how to do the seating of the grandparents and parents before the ceremony.  I'm not sure who he should escort, but I think it would be a little strange if he walks down the aisle by himself.  Should he escort one of my grandmothers in, maybe?  My fiance even suggested not having a formal seating of the grandparents and parents, but I feel like that would be disrespectful.  Any ideas?

Re: Help With Seating of the Family

  • He can escort your grandmother, and a GM or usher can set your mother. But if you don't like any of those options he can always be seated right before the seating of the grandparents/parents starts.

For my wedding, we had the grandparents walk with each other, the only people that were "seated" by ushers were the mothers, and my grandmother who is a widow.

  • Have him escort his mother. His father will walk behind them.

  • I was in the same situation and since my dad's mother had already passed, he just walked down by himself after my mother was escorted by her husband.
