Bridal, um...undergarment for strapless dress

I am...underendowed (actually I'm probably about average), but then I have smallish hips and a relatively large waist - essentially I have a somewhat straight figure. When shopping for my dress, when we pulled the waist tight, the bust was just flat, which made my waist look huge.

I'm thinking about wearing a corset to give me a little more of a figure, since even losing those last 8 pounds won't change my general shape, but am wondering what others have done?

Can't believe it's just 101 days away!!! I sent my invites out and the RSVPs are starting to come in. I am SO excited!

I would seek out a specialty lingerie shop if I were you!   They were able to find me a long line bra that they had in stock and alter it for me a few weeks before the wedding.  I highly suggest it!

I'd go to Victoria's Secret and get a push-up strapless bra.  They make this one strapless bra that's pretty awesome.  I'm... pretty top heavy ... and it held the girls up all day.  Mine didn't have the push-up padding, but I'm pretty sure they make one like that.

My dress also had a built in corset.

Do you have a picture of your dress?

You can also have cups sewn into your dress for extra padding. I find that heavily padded strapless bras do not stay up very well. Also, when they tailor the dress, you can talk to them about how they might be able to alter the dress to give you more shape.

As for slimming garments - if you can afford to have something tailored for you that is probably the best route. If your dress is slinky, a corset might be too heavy underneath. You could try something like Spanx, that are just tight spandex that suck everything in.

I would get push up bra cups and have my seamstress tack them in.  It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about an undergarment, it's attached to your dress.  You can get them at fabric stores like Jo-Ann or Hancock Fabrics.

Cups all the way, especially if you are itty bitty up there.  You don't want to be having to adjust your bra all night.

Have the seamstress sew in cups during the alterations process and forget it!
