Another product review - for small dog people

Although I'm not sure if there are other small dog people on here...

I also got a free bag of Science Diet Small & Toy Breed dry dog food to try and then share my opinon.  My two dogs eat mostly Science Diet already and really like it.  I like it because it seems to be what keeps their poo nice and easy to clean up on walks.  And remember what I said about never having dealt with doggy diarrhea in five years of dog mothering?  I'm sure that is a mixture of good food and good luck.  We also get lots of compliments on their shiney coats when we are out.

The Small & Toy Breed formula is supposed to be better formulated for longer life expectancies in small dogs.  My dogs seem to like it just as well as the regular stuff and we will continue using it.

As a bonus I've noticed that the small & toy breed formula is about three dollars less per bag for the same weight.  I don't know if that is a special intro pricing, or if it will stay that way.

  • I've always considered pugs more medium sized dogs, but I haven't been around pugs much, either.  How much does a typical pug weigh?

  • Pugs are a toy breed. A breed standard pug should weight 13 (female) - 18 (male)pounds, but they are huge chowhounds, so most weigh more. Jake weighs 21 lbs right now. Ax was the smallest we had and he was 16lbs. Vets always compliment us on Jake's weight since he is slim. He may be 21lbs, but he is tall and skinny. That is rare.
