**kristinanddan**..... Question for you

Hi there -
I read on a previous post that you went to a wedding at the Fountainhead and you said you didn't like it. What didn't you like about it? My wedding is going to be there next May and this is the 2nd complaint I've heard about the Fountainhead ...and one was from a family member of mine!!!! I want to stay on top of what is going wrong so I can pose my queries & concerns to them.
Please let me know what you found wrong. I would appreciate it.

Thanks so much for your help -
Lee

Honestly, I hated the food. It was bad, and made a number of us sick. I will say the paella was good, but other than that I didn't love anything, from the cocktail hour through the viennese hour. What reception hall has bad tiramisu?

Also, there was a martini bar that featured cosmopolitans, but the bartender didn't know how to make them. Things like that annoy me. If you're working a bar that serves 4 drinks, know how to make them.

I also found it strange that they never served the cake. I'm assuming it's because they had a viennese hour, but this was a Friday wedding. We left after midnight and the cake still wasn't cut.

I hope none of this is upsetting to you or anything, I was just really unhappy with the food quality. Getting sick the next day didn't help either.

OMG - sorry you got sick.
No, I'd rather know. I'm so surprised becasue if nothing else everyone has always raved about the food at The Fountainhead. The place came recco'd from my friend who's husband use to work there. I don't know if that's my ace in the hole but I'm getting worried since this is the 2nd complaint I heard in a matter of 2 months.

My sister in law went to a wedding there in July and she said she couldn't get a cold beer all night long. Grrrrrrrreat most of the people from my job drink beer.
So I'm going to have to have a little sit down w/ the manager and figure out what I can do to avoid ummm warm beer & people getting sick and bartenders knowing how to make drinks!

Were you in the big room? Adjacent to the atrium? How many bar tenders would you say were there? How big was the wedding?  Is there anything else you can tell me? I don't mean to hound you but its best I know ... lol do I sound panicked?

Thanks for any input you can give me. I appreciate it.

Don't panic! I would sit down with them and discuss what you're concerned about though.

The wedding was in the big room. I want to say there were 13 of the long tables. There was a bar set up in the corner, and then one down in the atrium. There was definitely one bartender in the atrium, but I don't rememebr if there were one or two at the one in the main room - one I think, but there were never more than 2 or 3 people waiting.

I think my husband had a beer or two and I don't remember him complaining about them being warm.

But really, other than those things, it's a gorgeous place. I also loved the water they gave us on our way out -that's always such a nice touch that I wish our venue offered. Don't stress too much!

Ok ... I'll try not to stress. Thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes, that was the other issue my sister in law mentioned and it had to do w/ the long lines at the bar. I guess I'll speak to them to see what we can come up with? The last thing I want is people having to wait too long on a line for a cocktail. We shall see

    Thanks again.

I'm butting in here... my bridesmaids wedding was there and we didn't have a good experience either. I felt so bad for her. I think she was just super emotional but the place completely messed up her set up and her food choices... she was crying. It wasn't THAT big of a deal... so the linen wasn't what she wanted, and her other specifics weren't set up the way she wanted either, but to her it was the end of the world. Then to make it worse her food selections were different... she did change them at the last minute but the venue I guess forgot?? I don't know. I agree that the alcohol was horrible and WARM... no one dared mention it to her tho since she was already so upset. I hope you have a better experience!

I appreciate your input ... I'm hoping because of our referral and this manager knows who sent us there will do a little bit more overseeing of our wedding.  I know for sure I'm going to contact my friends hubby who recco'd us there and get his take on the best way to handle this. Food, drink & music to me are the most important at a wedding and if there's anything I can do to prevent it I will.

Can I ask you when was your BM's wedding was? Do you know who her manager was that handled her wedding? Do you know if she had a good experience w/ her bridal attendant as well? Figured I'd throw that in there just out of curiosity.

    Thanks again

    Also butting in...
Can't help with most of it. But, regarding the weddings where they had to wait for  a drink, most catering halls have a strict ratio of bartenders and servers to guests. ie. 1 bartender for every 50, 1 server for ever 14 guests. Some can be very strict, and if, for example the other wedding had only 90 people (not 100)or 140 (not 150) they might have given her the lesser number. ie 2 bartenders for 140 guests since they didn't hit the 150. Two bartenders for 140 guests is not enough! I'm not sure if this was the issue, but figured that I would mention it. Just check and see that they give you enough bartenders. HTH! Good luck!

Thanks Terri -  It's definitely on my list of questions for the manager...And whatever their policy is .... if I so choose to want to have another bartender I'm hoping if I'm willing to pay for it that they will honor what I want. I have a call into the manager...I'm wondering if it's too soon to bring up my concerns? BUT my next BIG deposit is due in November soooo before I put more money into this place I'm thinking my mind needs to be put at ease.

I think I need to find a paper bag to blow into now! hahahaha

Definitely ask! It can't hurt. It might be a little more money, but well worth it in the end. (And also mention some of the "non positive" comments that you have recently been made aware of. And mention that you are on the knot, and you heard a lot of those "non positive" comments here. They may just toss in the extra bartender! (Or at least charge you less) It's worth a shot! Good luck!

Honestly, I got married at the Fountainhead last October and did not have one problem! I am truly shocked to see some of these comments. Everything really went smoothly. All of our guests raved about the food. We had a choice to have our cake served at the v-hour or the wait staff would bring it to the tables. I think you should bring your concerns to the manager. We worked with Peter and he really went above and beyond for us. I made a list of how exactly I wanted things and they followed the directions. Be very detailed with them. I really have nothing but good things to say about the Fountainhead. Let me know if you have any questions.
