One of our invited wedding guests is my grandmother's friend. My mother, FI, and I did not want to invite this woman to our wedding, but my grandmother absolutely insisted that this woman be invited. This was a long argument (my grandmother was not invited to this woman's grandson's wedding, my grandmother is not paying for the wedding, this woman is mean...called FI fat!, and no one likes her). Being tired of hearing my grandmother insist that we invite her friend, we gave up and sent the STD recently followed by the invite.
Last week, this woman called my grandmother to complain that she didn't get her wedding invitation and asked if we weren't sending any! My grandmother told her that the invites were in the mail...she received her's the next day! I'm not sure why she was so offended that I sent my invites out over 8 weeks in advance...apparently she wanted her invite like 6 months in advance?!?! It's not like she lives out of town and she did receive a STD like 7 months in advance.
She's also told people that she was appalled that our wedding was A) not in a church and
that it was on a Friday night. She proceeded to go on and on about "what kind of a wedding is this".
She came to my bridal shower this weekend, the first thing she said to me was: I'm not coming to your wedding...I don't drive at night". I had to seriously hold myself back from saying "good, no one wants you there except for my grandmother anyway, and I think even she is regretting making us invite you!" I remained poised and just said, "I'm sorry to hear that".
I guess some people are just miserable!
