We Got an Apartment!!

OK, so I know this is NOT a big deal to most, but this has been such a huge ordeal for us. Due to some issues with my FI, he is unable to be on the lease for an apartment, so I've had to find places that will let us rent with just me. Plus, we have 3 cats. Plus, it had to be easy for me to get to work & for him to get to work (via bus for him). And it had to be less than $2 billion, which is hard in NNJ.

I was approved! Just got the call today!! This is just one less massive stress on my shoulders. Now for the decorating

Hooray! That is such awesome news! Super happy for you girl! I know what that's like, my FI also has some credit issues (I think that's what you said was the deal?). We aren't looking for a house/apartment yet, but we got him a CC so he can work on repairing his credit and I added him to my card as an authorized user.

Thanks! Yeah, he has no credit & at the moment isn't able to build it either. Thankfully I have good credit & make enough to afford the apartment by myself. We had to find something that was below what we can afford so that my salary would be enough to meet their requirements. <div>

<div>Yeah I know what you mean! My credit is excellent and I told FI he is NOT going to ruin it! Haha. He just made some dumb mistakes when he was younger and deferred his student loans, but he has taken care of everything now. A lot of his stuff happened about 7 years ago so it should be falling off his credit report soon anyway. </div><div>

Congrats on the new place! How exciting that you got the call you got approved :-) Hope you and your fiance have lots of fun getting set up together and picking out new furniture and other things. And that you spend the evening celebrating, in the meantime.

Yes, we need to go out to celebrate this weekend. Since we don't live together, it's a little harder to celebrate these mini victories!

We do have an Ikea & have made a list of items from there that we're going to get. We know that this is a starter place for us, so it's silly to spend so much money on a whole bunch of furniture if we're only going to move into a bigger place in 1-2 years (hopefully). So we made the decision to get a high quality mattress and bed from Raymour & Flanigan, then get the rest from Ikea.

The timing of it all is just so perfect. The night before my parents gave us a large monetary gift for us to use towards our apartment & the next day we get one! Hopefully we can go there over the weekend to start taking measurements to see if the furniture we want will fit through the doors!!

Congrat's Rlavach - i know this was such a stressor for you (understandably)!! I'm glad it all worked out for you both!

Ikea is a great place for starter stuff...we just went to the new one in Denver a couple weekends ago to get the tolsby frames, and had to walk around! I love walking around the showroom floor to see their ideas - they've got such cool organization techniques! Congrat's again!!

Congratulations! I know you have been worried about this and I know how you feel. FI and I bought a house in October, but because of his credit he can't be on the loan so we had to get a loan in my name only (I have very good credit).

Thanks ladies! I actually just checked my credit report/score right now & apparently it's in the 'high' bracket. I was so proud, like I passed an exam or something!! It was definitely all the help from my parents instilling good financial practices in me.

So now, I've got to keep it up!

Yayyyy!! And guess what? I got an apartment too!! FI is not on the lease either. We found a really nice place in Queens, halfway between both of our jobs. I bought some paint samples today and we're going tomorrow to slap paint on the walls to see if the colors I chose look good in the place. We already chose most of our furniture. I'm in interior design school, so this is really exciting for me to have my first "project"
