second line umbrellas - plain - & for wedding party?

2 questions:

I want to make my own second line umbrella (with my grandmother - I was really reaching for things for her to help with), but can't find a plain gold umbrella. Are they called parasols? Any ideas where to buy them? the decorated ones I've seen seem more like parasols than a "real" umbrella.

Question #2:

What about the wedding party having mini second line umbrellas? Faux pas?

TIA!

I am getting my umbrella from one of the mardi gras stores.  I am not sure if they have the gold though.  I have seen white, black and the mardi gras colors.  I am just getting white for me and Black for him and then adding the colors I want with the boa and beads that I want.  All of the weddings I have been to have used the umbrella not a paper parisol.

Second line umbrellas can be found online at Mardigrasoutlet. emardigrasbeads, plush appeal, accent annex, toomys-mardigras, and beadsbythedozen. There are other places that I can't remember, but they can be found by looking up mardi gras umbrellas and second line umbrellas.

i got our (bride and groom) umbrella's at gem's printing on veterans. they were simple but had feathers on them. i got about 6 other umbrellas that were plain white and super cheap from orientaltrading.com

i liked the idea of other people having them too- i think it added to the whole second line.
