Save the date question

Who do you send them to? Sounds like a dumb question lol! Do you send them to all the people on your guest list or just most? There are people on my list that I'd like to have there, but if costs need to be cut and the guest list needs to be trimmed - they may not be invited. What do you do for those people? We're at the 1 year mark and I'd like to get a start on Save The Dates, especially for my family.

Re: Save the date question

  • I sent the STD to everyone on my "had to be invited" list. I also sent them out the family members who where out of state.... that way if they where unable to come I then knew well in advance had the opportunity to invite other guests that I wanted there but did not have the extra space/money.
  • Don't send STDs to people you are not sure if you will ultimately invite. A STD says they are invited. You can either send STDs later on, or just send an invitation if invites are going out soon. We were on the fence about inviting some co-workers past & present and waited to see how our numbers were looking, and wound up just sending invites and no STD.

  • I created an A & B list. A included those who we had to invite. B included those additional folks that we wanted to invite, but was dependent on our budget. We sent the save the dates out super ealier, so we only sent it to the A list, as it would have been horrible to send a save the date and then never an invitation.

  • Send them only to those that are absolutely going to be invited. Do not send them to anyone you may cut.
