Best appetizers you've had at a wedding

Hey everyone.

I'm trying to think of some unique appetizer ideas for our wedding.  I don't like most of the ones that are listed on our menu options and they will make almost anything for us so I was trying to get some suggestions.

What was the best or most unique thing you've ever had at a wedding?

    Mini Toasted Muffalettas

Fried Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp (you read that right. they somehow bacon-wrapped a shrimp and THEN fried it.....holy mother of gawd it was good).

    Mini chorizo and manchego flatbreads

    ANY properly seared scallop appetizer....

And that's the best I can think of

My venue does something similar to this with an apricot glaze as well, it is phenomenal!

My fi's favorite is a butternut squash ravioli with sherry cream sauce.

ETA: I just looked at your date and if Oct. 5th is correct, these would both be great choices.  I think appetizers are a great way to highligh seasonal flavors. Butternut squash soup shooters could be nice as well.

We are planning on having tomato bisque shooters with mini grilled cheeses for our "fall themed" appetizer.

FI is a chicken wing fan, but I didn't want them because they are difficult and messy to eat. So our chef is making these chicken wing lolly-pop things where basically the meat is pulled down the end and the bone is clean to grab.

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

I'm doing the appetizers myself for my fall wedding.  We decided on doing different breads like banana bread, zuchinni bread, poppysead bread and monkey bread and then all different kinds of apple slices with a caramel dip.

I don't know that either are unique, but two of my favorite apps were ones we had at our wedding! Our venue had amazing bruschetta and toasted ravioli.

we had pork and apple skewers, spring rolls (the non-fried ones) with an amazing mango chutney and bacon wrapped scallions.  All were sooo yummy!  Three months later people are still telling me how much they loved the appetizers!

    Crab Begneits!
  • We're having some butler-passed appetizers and some table buffet appetizers.

    The table buffet appetizers are:
1- American Cheese Trio (goat cheese, havarti with dill, extra sharp vermont cheddar) with figs, grapes, crackers, pita chips

2- small cups of dip with veggies (red pepper, baby carrot with stem, artichoke hearts) - easier that the dip is already portioned out

3- olive assortment, freshly baked breads, herbed garlic olive oil, hummus, tabboli

4- peaches, plums, apricots, kiwis, melon, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries

    The butlered appetizers are:

1- truffled mac n cheese spoons
2- old-fashioned American style deviled eggs
3- caprese skewers (like caprese salad - tomato, basil, motzarella, drizzled with vinegar and oo, on skewer)
4- lemon-rosemary (vegan) chickpea fritters with sweet and sour chili pepper glaze
5- goat cheese tarts with morello tart cherry jam topping
6- asparagus soup shooters garnished with steamed white asparagus spear

We choose these because our 'main course' is a mix of various tapas (small plate) items which are beef, pork, chicken, salmon, shrimp, crab, etc. - so this enables our vegan and vegetarian guests to also feel satisfied.  We're also doing one vegetarian entree (freshly made cheese tortellini with fresh pesto/cream sauce)...and since these are small plate entrees, they could easily be used as appetizers because....

Basically, our entire menu is appetizers and dessert

    Hope this helps?
