A "New" September Bride - Intro

Hello, and good afternoon!

I'm bsidebella (or just bella or just bside...) and as of last month, I am a September 2012 bride. We were originally going to get married in January 2013, but once we realized that what we really wanted was an outdoor BBQ wedding, we decided to move the date up. We've been engaged since November 2010 and we are super psyched to finally get started with the planning. It's a lot to do in 6 months but we've hit the ground running. Thankfully, we have had lots of help from friends and family.

A little about us: he is a bank teller and I'm an ad sales assistant for a local newspaper. We're both 25. We met in 2005 and started dating in 2008. We live together and have a pet rabbit named Dickens. We like Doctor Who, cartoons, rummage sales, comic books and we both serve on the executive board of the a local chapter of the Zombie Research Society. I like to cook and he likes to eat.

I thought I would come on over here and introduce myself and start posting. Can't wait to get to know you all better.

Re: A "New" September Bride - Intro

  • Oh, man, it looks like TK ate my original intro post.

I'm a "recent" September 2012 bride. My FI and I were planning on having our wedding in January 2013, but when we decided what we really wanted was a bbq reception in a park, we pushed up the date a few months. It's a lot to do in a short amount of time, but we've been hitting the ground running! We also have been lucky enough to have lots of help from friends and family.

About us: we met in 2005, started dating in 2008, got engaged in 2010. We live together with our 9-pound bunny rabbit named Dickens. I'm an advertising assistant at a local newspaper; he is a bank teller. We like Doctor Who, comics, going to rummage sales, playing Scrabble, and watching cartoons. I like to cook, he likes to eat. We both serve on the executive board of the local chapter of the Zombie Research Society.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing my planning! :)

  • TK seems to be acting up today, because I can't see your post, but just wanted to say Welcome to the board, and can't wait to get to know you!
  • This is ridonk. I wrote TWO intro posts because TK ate them both. Arrgghhh.

Lemme see if I can do a quickie version....
We met in '05, started dating in '08, engaged in '10. We live together, we have a rabbit, we both work full time and are big nerds. Getting married 9/9/12 - Jewish ceremony, BBQ reception.

  • Hello! Wow nice to see posts showing up LOL Yes we have done planning. We have booked our reception venue (a tent at a huge park), a caterer (a local deli) and our officiant, but we recently lost our ceremony venue (long story). We have lots of help from family and friends, too! My FSIL is buying the wine and beer as her wedding gift, my mother baking our wedding cupcakes, a friend of mine who went to beauty school will be doing day-of hair and makeup. FI has connections with a printing company and a flower shop, so we are hoping to get some good deals there. The only thing we don't have is a photographer, and we are on a miniscule budget, so I'm kind of procrastinating on that :/ As for a dress, eeehhh that's a touchy subject right now. I hate...no, loathe clothes shopping. My body type is not meant for clothes. I am not looking forward to dress shopping at all, so I've been putting that off too :/ I'm taking my BP shopping on the 24th, so maybe if I do that first, I'll be less apprehensive about buyjng my own dress.

  • I was the same way with dress shopping, I wish I could wear jeans! I went to two boutiques and with my budget went to DB and got my dress there. After a few dresses it got kind of fun! I felt awkward in most of them, but I tried on the one I bought and liked it enough.

<div>No story is too long, plus I'm nosy and I want to know. Haha :-P</div><div>
</div><div>Anyway, welcome! I'm interested to hear about the Jewish aspects of your wedding. My dad was raised Jewish but pretty much abandoned it when he was a teen. Growing up though, he always made sure my brother and I understood and recognized the major holidays, and to this day we observe (the commercial and food aspects, lol) Chanukkah right alongside Christmas. I am having a non-religious ceremony, but my dad has asked if we could at least have some type of Hora during the reception, to which I agreed because he's paying and it's the least I can do.</div>
