Workout Accountability: Monday

Happy Monday ladies! It is raining and thunder/lightning like mad here - hope you all have better weather!

P90x week 5 doubles kicked off with a bang, and it is kicking my butt. I'm loving it, though, because it allowed me to enjoy some extra calories and sweets this weekend without gaining (fingers crossed it doesn't show up on the scale later this week!)

How is everyone doing?

• Morning! Warrior Dash is this coming Sunday, eek! I ran on the treadmill and did some weights on Saturday, and H and ran outside yesterday (and it was hot as balls and it totally sucked). My hamstrings are very angry today. Today is a rest day, but I hope to get a run in tomorrow, and maybe one more on Thursday? We'll see how it shakes out.

After Warrior Dash, I THINK I'm going to give Insanity another go. I might alter it to be 5 days a week instead of 6 this time though. I really struggled with 6 day a week workouts that intense last time around. I super hate the "cardio recovery" workout, so maybe I'll take that one out and run and do my own strength and stretching that day and see if that makes a difference. I don't want to stop running right now, but I do want to give Insanity another shot.

• This weekend was okay for working out/eating.

Friday afternoon I took a walk with co-workers, then I went to the gym and focused on upper body weightlifting after work. I got a quick 45 minutes in on the treadmill as well. After dinner I went and played Disk golf with the FI. Overall a successfully active day!

Saturday I woke up and went right to the gym. Got 20 minutes of stairmaster, 35 minutes of elliptical. Later in the evening, FI's father was visiting us and we went on a 2 mile walk through a local park.

Yesterday was probably my laziest day for the past week, but I did still get 90 minutes of light cardio on my bike.

Weighed in over the weekend and was only down 0.6 lbs - I've been working SO much harder and it's still coming off just as slow. It's sort of frustrating, but I know I just have to keep practicing good habits and behaviors and in the long run it will pay off.

• I hear ya, Entropic. It's frustrating for sure. I had a week like that. I'm back on WW (grumble), and I did awesome this week, plus I did really well not eating gluten (I had been eating it off and on for several weeks, which had me feeling awful, but I couldn't stop, ahhhh!), and I expected to at least drop a couple pounds of bloat (last time I kicked the gluten again I lost 7 lbs of water weight in 10 days)... yeah pretty sure I gained a pound this week. I was pissed when I got on the scale.

J&K - what is warrior dash? (you may have mentioned in a previous post but I think I missed it)

On Saturday I went to spin class and lifted after class, shoulders, arms, and chest. It was a really nice long work out. I love those. Sunday I tried to run outside but it was so HOT out I ended up running the first 2 miles and walking part of mile 3. I still did it in under 30 minutes but disappointed I wasn't able to get through the whole thing. I think I may have been slightly dehydrated (as a result of drinking beer and eating like craaaaaap at a house warming party the night before) and the combination of being so humid and hot out made it hard to get through. This morning I went to FI's gym with him and we ran a mile to warm up and then did back & ab work outs. I really like the days I can lift with FI. He always pushes me harder.

Random side note (this makes me sound like a total roiding meat head, which I completely am not) but I have noticed the past few times I have been lifting my bottom left eye lid has started twitching like crazy! It is fine through cardio but after I start lifting it starts going nuts. I mean I lift as heavy as I can but I'm not straining myself by any means. I actually think I can start upping my weight again but the past few work outs I've been afraid to do so because of this eye problem. It lasts for a few hours after I'm done working out. This happened to me a few years ago and I actually had to get a botox injection in my lid to stop it from the spasms (gross I know). Does this ever happen to anyone else?? Any idea how to stop it from happening? I don't want to have to take a break from lifting..

• Maribeth, probably not...I've been sucking at working out, so I've been largely avoiding this place ;) It's an obstacle mud run. 5k with 12 (I think?) obstacles like climbing walls and cargo nets and wading through mud pits, etc. It's our first time, so it should be awesome! Except that it's at a ski place, and the first part of the run is straight up one of the ski hills. Awesome! NOT.

• Way to go everybody! It was the big moving weekend for me, so there was lots of stairs and lifting of boxes and furniture. We also went to TC Pride yesterday, so there was a lot of walking there. I didn't do any extra gymming though. I have a gym/workout goal of at least 3 times this week since I was slacking on my structured workouts last week. Eating was good this weekend, even with extra treats to feed the masses that helped move.

Morning everybody! I just ordered my dress and the size I ordered did not zip up..basically, I'm forcing myself to lose weight (I also have slight high blood pressure so I need to get healthy!). I started walking on Saturday and I think I'll stick to 30 min walking and 15 on the elliptical 3-4x wk for now. I want to lose 50 lbs and have already lost 5 with some very minor diet modifications. Do you all do accountability weekly? Daily? @Maribeth-my eyelids twitch from time to time but its mostly when I'm stressed. I even went to the doctor to make sure nothing was wrong and everything checked out okay :)

• Mari-my eyelid did that once for nearly two weeks, I was so annoyed, so I feel your pain. It happened when my body was over-tired, over-stressed, and probably under-hydrated. Getting a few really good nights of sleep was the only thing that made it go away.

• I had a far better weekend for eating than I thought before I tracked. I walked a bunch on Saturday with friends (8th St to Grand Central plus a bunch of avenues if any of you are NYers). My FI and I went to a local festival on Sunday, we were going to go to Pride, but with our subway not running we decided against it. The festival was fun, but I got overheated and dehydrated. I was rather miserable the rest of the day. I woke up thirsty today, so I'm going to drink a bunch of water before hitting the gym.
We're going out with a friend for dinner tonight, so I'll have to be good today because going out for sushi can be dangerous.

• @lobsters - Sleep definitely helped. I really forced myself to get a lot of sleep over the weekend. But this morning it started right back up after my first back set at the gym, same thing happened Saturday when I started lifting. It was fine during spin and as soon as I lifted it start to spasm. So annoying and uncomfortable. I feel like everyone can see it so I'm super self-conscious about it. I had this a few years ago and it did it non-stop for 5 months. I am just worried that is going to happen again...but lifting seems to really trigger it.

@j&k - that sounds bad@ss girl!! you go! are you doing it with your fi or friends?

I've had it happen on and off for 6 weeks before. Usually happens when I am exhausted and overly stressed. Make sure you are refuelling your body properly and getting plenty of water along with quality sleep.

Way to go Lobsters, props on the Doubles!!

I got back from Vegas last night, and honestly I think the half pound I gained was from muscle mass, lol. I ate super well except for an arbys sandwich last night and some black beans and rice during lunch. I only had one drink the whole time.
Friday I worked out for over 2 hours- at 6 am with Shaun T and and at 4pm with Tony Horton! Saturday we had 5000 people meet in the Tropicana parking lot and did 20 minute sessions with six different trainers, it was amazing!
Thursday and Friday I got atleast 5 miles of walking in each day, it was a half mile from the convention center to my holel room..

Today I will be stretching (super sore) and taking a walk before I start round 2 of P90X tomorrow!

• Morning (afternoon??) all!

This weekend was a little weird for me. Friday I took the day off, and Saturday came back in to do my circuit/interval (whatever) training. Once a week I do an interval system where I do as many pushups as I can, then run a lap around the track, go back to do crunches and basically switch back and forth until I'm ready to die. 9 laps is a mile, so I do at least 9 laps. I'm trying to sloooowly creep back up to 18 laps (which I used to do no problem), and I'm at about 11 now.
Did that Saturday, but good grief I was having a battle with my body. I felt like I was crawling around the track, and I could barely get in the pushups and knee-ups. But I pushed through it, and thanked my lucky stars when I reached lap 11. Plus side - 25 pushups to start! Trying to get back to 50.

Sunday I got up early and did HIIT for 20 minutes. Wasn't fighting myself as hard as I was Saturday.

Both days I came in under calories but I can't say I ate particularly well. I just came in under calories. PLUS one of my friends who I'm petsitting more baked me delicious cookies as part of my payment. I love her for it, but sort of hate her for it too. I'm trying not to binge - just one or two per day - but OMG...So hard to do!
• Been battling the exhuastion of my condition but I'm on the straight away with the exercise.

Thursday- 4 miles of speedwork
Friday - rest day
Saturday- 90 minute bike ride
Sunday 4.5 mile run

Today is time on my bike on the trainer. I'm so very tired but I'm going to do it. I will probably go to bed right after that since I intend to do this around 8pm but I'm going to try my hardest to get it intonight. The half ironman wont wait for me to have a good day so I must train for all contingencies :).

• Good afternoon! I had a very active weekend. Friday I moved furniture, Saturday I went on a 6.6 mi. hike in less than 3 hours (up 2,200 feet!), and then on Sunday, I forced myself to do 30DS before spending an hour or two at the pool.

This morning I only got 25 min. of elliptical in because we had house guests and I felt like I needed to get back before they woke up. Tonight's a cookout at FI's supervisor's house so hopefully there will be healthy choices.

When I was on the hike, I noticed that my fingers became swollen. Afterwards, I went shopping with my mom for a dress for my shower and the usual size 8 that I wear was a little snug. Could the bloating have been caused by the exercise? Or the elevation? Or some combination?

• Look at everyone kicking butt this weekend - nice work!

Lukey- I ALWAYS bloat after exercise. I could barely get my skirt on this AM, about 1/2 hour after I was done working out, and once my body got back to normal temp, it fit like usual. No clue about elevation - central NJ doesn't have much of that. :)

• I ran my fastest ever 5K time.. not super fast, but a personal best: 31:44.

I also kicked major booty at the Spartacus weights class I went to!
• Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Mine was fairly uneventful, and I got a nasty cold on Saturday that is still in the getting worse phase. We've got some kind of bug going around here! My nose won't stop running and my throat is just killing me so I've been laying off of the exercise for now. When I'm feeling better, I'll get back into the routine.

I'll make sure to keep my eating on track, had to lower my calorie goal by 40 this week to adjust for loss thus far. Won't be an issue though! Still at 1710 so there's lots of room for getting all of the food I want.

In non-GIS related news, I got a spray tan on Sunday - I'm testing people out FAR in advance of my wedding just in case any results are terrible - and I look like I am of a different race. She told me that the dark solution would be perfect on my skin tone, even though I told her I didn't want to look too dark - and now whenever I smile it freaks me out because my teeth look glow in the dark. I washed off the solution 3 hours before I was supposed to, and it still got darker overnight... too dark... I'm off to the shower now to exfoliate and try to lighten myself up a few skin tones. Ahh! But overall, very pleased with myself that I did not do this next August right before my wedding.

• Hi,

I know this is a long shot, but I saw your posts and thought I'd post a message just in case this offer is of interest to any of you.

I'm a television producer and we're casting doctors/nutritionists for a new show. We need to film a segment with a very respected, top-notch nutritionist as she consultants a bride-to-be who wants to shed a few pounds before the big day. This will be filmed, however, it's for internal use only and will never appear on television. You get a few consultation with one of best in the business in exchange for letting us film the meeting!

The specifics: The bride needs to live in Los Angeles, be available to film for a few hours the week of a July 16 and have an upscale home or condo (needs to look like someone who could afford to have a nutritionist come to the home).

It's a fun opportunity for the right person! If you happen to live in the area and are interested in hearing more details send me an email!: allyhill85@gmail.com

Thanks for your time!

• Today's workout scratched thanks to am drs appointment. Nothing like having your joints and bones manipulated in the morning to ruin them later in the day. Its ok I did two really good workouts in the last 2 days, and figured it out in time to change my eating for the day.
