Registry?

Where is everyone registering?

FI and I decided to register at Bed Bath & Beyond and Wal-Mart. Unfortunately my country a** hometown doesn't have a BBB or a Target.

Why did it take me almost 3 hours to register for things online? Never thought it would take that long.

Target! I got tired after doing the first registry!

Wow. I must be crazy...I had fun registering with my FI.  He's crazy...he was trying to scan all kinds of stuff you would NOT put on a registry..just to be funny.   We took pics at each place and everything.    OH LORD..I'm having flashbacks, lol.  Anywho, to answer your question:  Bed Bath and Beyond, then Macy's (ON THE SAME DAY) and then Target.  Our wedding isn't until September and we've already gotten gifts.  Haven't even sent out the invites yet.

we are not going to register anywhere we have everything we want and need thus far, which is driving our friends and family crazy that we tell them we do not need any gifts, but oh well.

If I needed options for registry it would most likely be Macy's, William Sonomas, Crate and Barrell, and/or Dillards.

or to do a vacation registry where guests contribute to honeymoon.

We used bed bath and beyond, and we started a honeymoon registry with liberty travels. You dont have to have those stores around you. You can do a registry online for any store that you want and if people order you gifts, they will be shipped directly to your house.

I want to register at BBB and maybe target too. When is a good time to register, or should I say how much in advance, were getting married in October 2010.
  • edited December 2011
@KSTURGIS, I did both of my registries online, but I know some of my older relatives don't like ordering things online so I didn't want to inconvenience them. But my mom, my sis, and I always shop online so I know some people will go that route. Plus Walmart has the Paula Deen cookware I want for cheaper than BBB. And  Walmart has the everyday Corelle dinnerware I like that Target sells, so it worked out. I have twice as many items on my BBB registry as my Walmart one anyway.

@luckyinloveaz, when I was the registry supervisor at a baby store (i know there's a difference between that and a wedding registry), we told people to register only about 3 or 4 months out because some things would be discontinued by the time people started shopping from their registry. I'm not sure if that's true for wedding registries though.

Ditto this. We only registered earlier than this because our bp, threw us an engagement party. And some of our family members gave us gifts early. So I did have to keep an eye on it for discontinued items. But BB&B is great because they send you emails when something is going out of stock. So if you want to get a head start, you surely can.

I am using Myregistry.com for my Kohls and Target registries. it is very helpful because you can customize the site (to greet guests, upload a picture) and they can see everything youve registered for (from any website or store) there online.

They just click the gift and it will take them to the site it was found on. They also offer downloadable announcement cards for your shower invites with the website.

The only downside is that some stores (Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Target) are 'partnered' stores and you can quickly and easily sync the lists, but Kohls is not so there are a couple extra steps (but not many!)
