In need of a venue for 200 guests on a TIGHT budget

Does anyone have any recommendations on a cheap wedding venue that holds 200 people in San Diego and is very affordable?  My fiancee and I are currently living in New York, but our wedding will be in San Diego early 2014.  We are on an extremely tight budget (hoping for about $65 per person for venue, tables/chairs, food and alcohol).  O_O  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!  Thanks!

Re: In need of a venue for 200 guests on a TIGHT budget

  • There are venues that allow you to bring your own food, etc. that are quite affordable.

I've been to weddings that totaled between 5 and 10k at PB Women's Club, LJ Women's Club, Marina Village, United Portugese Center (Point Loma, I'm not sure if that's the correct name). All were quite lovely. One was a dessert bar only, which I'm sure made a HUGE difference in their cost.

HTH! My FI is from NY originally, so we've got quite a few people coming out for the wedding (well, hopefully). :)

[QUOTE]In Response to In need of a venue for 200 guests on a TIGHT budget :  Give me an idea what type of wedding you're going for. Are you wanting a beach theme? Is there a theme? Do you want it to be romantic and different? Are you looking for churches? Please get back to me so i can give u some ideas.  My name is Tracy !

    Hi Tracy,
We're going for a rustic look with a contemporary flare. We're pretty easy going so nothing fancy. Ideally, we'd like to get married in a barn, garden, or lofty/warehouse. We'd like our guests to feel relaxed, enjoy good food and booze. I'm also a DIY'er so I don't mind doing things myself...I just need good bones to start with.
    Thank you!
  • You can try the Handerly Hotel. Their prices are pretty cheap I think about $42 a person for food without alcohol,. They have a nice garden area for the ceremony outside.

  • Carlton Oaks golf course in Santee is pretty reasonable. It's about $2,000 for ceremony and reception. Chairs, tables and linens are included. You have to use their caterer though, but they have a nice selection and prices range from $38 - $60 per person (inclusive of tax). Alcohol is charged separately though.
  • The Country Club of Racho Bernardo is running a Wedding Special for $9,000 for up to 100 guests. Any number over 100 guests is $45++. Its close to your budget and the capacity is 200.  Maybe call and schedule a meeting or ask for more information.
  • actully living here in san diego, there is the Hidden oaks in ramona, the venue base cost $2,850 and a catering sevice called affordable affairs for 199 people for food drinks and bar its about $6,200 which together adds up to $9,050 which is about $45 a person. 200 people might be the same amount. food is $2 cheaper a person 200 people and up
  • hidden oaks website states no alcohol on premise.
Are they loose about that or did things change since you've written this?
  • They seem pretty strict on that rule. I just looked at the website since I'm looking for a rather cheap venue.

have you checked out Montana Cielo?

    I'm really considering it!

I have some options in mind for your price range. Yes , it is possible in San Diego to find that you just have to know where to look and be open to ideas. I don't believe in the word No , so I will help you email me and you can tell me more. Wed2life@gmail.com
You don't believe in the word "No" because you're a vendor and want her contact info to send her crap. @KnotJackie @KnotPorscha

  • Montana cielo looks really cool, do you worry that it might rain? would you have to get a tent?

  • I looked into Montana Cielo.

    50 – 74 guests $340 per hour Minimum cost:  $2040
    75 – 99 guests $380 per hour Minimum cost:  $2280
    100 – 130 guests $425 per hour Minimum cost:  $2550

This includes NOTHING but using the area. I received additional info from them and they have a hundred rules.
  • If you're willing to venture a little north to San Clemente or Fallbrook, the Wedgewood locations are all-inclusive and depending on the package might meet your budget. Their prices supposedly go up on November 1, so you might want to check them out fast if you're interested in saving more money. I visited the San Clemente location and absolutely loved it. I think it might be a little too much for me considering my guest list, but it might help you! :)
