Cathedral Veil Length

I purchased a Cathedral length veil and recently got the chance to try it on with my dress.

SO here is my question. How long should it be? Longer than my dress, shorter than my dress, or equal to the length of my dress?

Re: Cathedral Veil Length

  • That would depend on the length of your dress.

I've seen a lot of cathedral length veils that are a great deal longer than the dress, but some dresses that are only a couple of inches short of the veil length, and some that are just about equal to it.  I tried one on just for fun when I was dress shopping, and with my dress it was only about 3 inches longer than the train.

  • I think I'm with the PP. My dress has a shorter train.. not super long, but still a train. My veil is cathedral length and comes just a little bit past the end of my dress!

  • Mine is longer than my dress and my dress has a train, Cathedral length viels are usually for very formal weddings, like in a catherdal (sorry to state the obv lolz) but it really depends on how long your dress and train are.  As a side note, you can have your veil bussled with the train of your dress too!

  • Mine is at least three feet longer than my dress' train--pretty dramatic!

  • My train in cathedral length, so my veil is cathedral or regal- whichever we decide looks better.

  • I agree with Abbe.

  • Like PPs have said, it just depends on the length of your dress. My dress train is cathedral, so the cathedral length veil matches up perfect. Where you place it on your head can also effect how it lines up with your train.

  • I think it depends on your dress and what you want. I have a cathedral length veil and didn't realize until later that my dress is also a cathedral length train. I want my veil to be longer, so I'm having the train shortened to a chapel length.
  • All a matter of what look you are doing for and if you want to wear it at the reception. My dress has a cathedral train so I have a cathedral veil that goes a little passed the end of my train. It will come off after the ceremony.

  • My veil falls past my dress, but that is because of where the train falls.
