help...

I don't want to hire a caterer because they are too much money so I'm trying to save by having the family cook.... What should I have them cook being that I'm spanish and I want the hour d'voures to look fancy or as if a caterer made it... Or if I could save the family sometime with meats and pastas should I just order that from a catering place/restaurant?? please help......

  • Ok then my next questions is, since you want it to look professional, do you think your family is capable of cooking something that looks professional?  I consider myself a pretty good home cook, and while I think my food tastes great, I know nothing about presentation.

  • Often restaurants will prep food for you -- check around at your favorites or places that have the type of food that you want.  Your team can pick it up and serve it without all the burden of prep.  OR, you/they can pick and choose what to make and what to buy ...

<div>I would really strongly advise against having your family cater the wedding.  It's well worth it to either hire a caterer or place a large order with a gourmet grocery store, restaurant, etc.   Ordering from a restaurant or grocery store will not be much more than buying the ingredients to cook yourself and it will save a tremendous amount of time.  </div>
  • I decided against having family cook.  Just not worth the headache for me.  Plus with a catere, you don't have to worry about much.

If family can handle it and really want to, consider yourself lucky and just try to relay to them what you want and how you want it to look and taste. Not sure if you'll get the professional look you're after, but if you're considering having family cook, I assume you know they can and will have that great taste.
