Traditional procession?

FI are debating.  Should groomsmen escort the bridesmaids up the aisle before the ceremony, or stand up with the groom and do the recession with bridesmaids?

Re: Traditional procession?

  • It's really up to your preference. Traditionally, it can go either way. Me personally, we're having the groomsmen escort the bridesmaids up the aisle but we're still debating whether the best man will stand up front with groom or escort the matron of honor with the rest of the bridal party.

  • I prefer the bridesmaids to walk up by themselves.

  • I say the guys come in from the side with your groom.  It's much less awkward for many people this way.

<div>How so? I haven't decided what we'll do but am curious as to what makes it uncomfortable?</div>

  • I've only been to two weddings where the groomsmen came out from the side with the groom.  All the others, the GM and BM have walked together.
  • I am having the best man stand up with the groom, and the rest will walk down with the bridesmaids.
