Sad news today..

TK ate my post I think so I am re-doing it.

I found out today that my brother will not be home for my wedding and I am beyond devastated. 

He will be in the process of transferring bases and will not be granted leave time. I am so upset about this. 

My mom mentioned maybe having the ceremony when he is home in Dec. or Jan. and then doing the reception in May when we planned. I don't know how I feel about that and I don't think it's right etiquette wise so I just need to wrap my head around the whole thing.

    I am sorry to hear that your brother wont be able to attend your wedding... Have you thought about maybe streaming it somehow? I know it's not the same but just a suggestion...

    We don't even know where he is going to be. All we know is that he comes home from Afghanistan in Dec and then he will be in Germany until April and then transferring to the new base. 

    He will get like 2 weeks of leave when he gets home from Afghanistan.

    I am sorry to hear that. my cousin just got married two weeks ago and her brother was not able to attend due to the same thing. They still went with the ceremony/reception and kept him in their prayers. They also printed a picture of his face and stuck it on a stick. Some of the pictures (still ones) he was included in aka his face. I know it is hard and it was for her, but he will be there with you in spirit, as well maybe he will be able to have a few minutes to watch you via skype at the ceremony or reception

    That truly sucks. I'm so sorry.

    You only know what's best for you and your family, but probably your best option if you don't want to change the date is to Skype it somehow. At my cousin's wedding, her now ex-husband's brother was stationed in Japan at the time and at the VERY last minute he got permission to come home for their wedding.

    My FI was in  AFghanistan when his 2 best friends got married, and he was to be the Best Man. They kept him as the best man and did a prayer for his safety :)
