Workout Accountability: Friday

Good morning all!!

I was able to start to breathe yesterday, so I walked on the treadmill lightly for about 30 minutes, just to get moving.  Also did my "office exercises" as well as my fab ab feburaray--- which I'm really excited to hopefully be able to do a plank.  =)

I'm feeling better today, so going to the gym this afternoon after work. Probably ellyptical and bike.

What's on your agenda today??

Re: Workout Accountability: Friday

  • Happy Friday!

I ran a quick three miles last night since we were meeting friends for dinner.  I earned my half-price Mexican food!

Tonight I'll be lifting, elliptical for about 40 minutes, and ab work.  I'll most likely take Saturday as a rest day and get in a good workout Sunday before the game.

Anyone have fun Super Bowl plans?  We're hosting a small party at our place.

    Glad you're feeling better PBurke!

  • I'm heading to a party with my Maid of Honor (who is also on a diet/exercise plan) so hopefully we will push each other away from the  beer.  I still hope to get in a few good workouts this weekend.

    Nice deal on the Mexican!
  • I had a list of things a mile long to do last night, but I managed to squeeze in 15 minutes of running on an elliptical and then went to the first half of TurboKick.

The FI is coming for a visit this weekend (we currently live in different states...), so I'll be taking a couple days off from working out in favor of cramming in time with him.  Good luck to everyone else on their weekend workouts!
  • I didn't get any kind of workout in last night, but I'm trying not to let it frustrate me because I was crazy busy.

I'm also travelling this weekend so not sure how I'll manage to fit any workouts in....

  • I was planning on running a 5k but after 1.5 miles I noticed my shins were feeling a little funky, not hurting, but not right.  I got off the treadmill and did a fairly intense bike session for 20 mins and my shins were fine.  I did abs last night and concentrated on one exercise.  Whenever I do this my abs kill the next day and boy are they sore!
  • Rest day for me!  I might walk on the treadmill when I get home depending on what time it is, just to shake things out a bit.

    I'm boycotting the Superbowl.

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • I ran 8 miles last night with a running group.  We kept the pace in the mid-9's the whole time but we ran some intense hills.  My toe was pretty sore after that (I'm on ok flat ground though)... today is a rest day since I have 17 miles tomorrow.

FI's parents host a super bowl party every year so we'll be doing that.  I have no problem stuffing down some pizza & beer since I'm doing super long runs on Saturdays, but I feel like if I could lay off the junk food & sweets I would LOOK like a runner.  Right now I just look solid (and maaayyyyybe a little thick in the thighs but I affectionately refer to them as "runner thighs")

Enjoy your weekend ladies- and even if you can't get a whole work out in, try to do some push-ups & abs, lunges, and maybe tricep dips- you don't need any equipment & you can roll through a quick circuit in like 15 mintues.
  • Rest day... thank God!!!  So I'm planning on just jogging for about 30minutes tonight at a nice slow (9min/mile-ish) pace.

I'm really just tired.  Not sore, but I can tell this week of workouts was rough on my body and it's trying to recoup.

I've 3 weeks left until the Crossfit Open starts, and I'm getting super nervous and excited.  I wish that my handstand pushups were stronger and I was able to do muscle ups, but I'm pleased with the progress in terms of strength and my pullups especially.  Can't beloieve it's here again... I've been training all year for this!

  • Today, I'm taking the day off from working out. I have lots of homework to do and I work 3-11 tonight. I did take the dog for a nice long walk this AM. Have a great day everyone (and weekend)!

  • I haven't really been keeping up with the running schedule I made for myself this week. That's probably ok though, because I felt like I was burning out so I kinda needed a week of rest. I ran on Wednesday which was ok and I'll probably hit the gym tonight. I decided against doing the 1/2 marathon I planned on. It's too soon and I just don't have enough time to train and be ready in time. But I am going to do the 10k that day :) Have a great weekend!
  • I'm doing my second day of C25K today at work! (On break.. lol). Super excited, but I know my thighs are gonna feel it!

When anyone else was just starting to run, did you find that you were coughing quite a bit afterward? I'm not really sure why but after the first day I was coughing intermittently for about 15 minutes. Strange! I think it might be because I'm so out of shape? lol.

I still cough after a good hard run.  No idea why, and I don't get sick or continue coughing after a short period of time, but yea- I've been running for ever & still cough after!

<div>How do your lungs feel for the rest of the day after that?  I had that issue and for the rest of the day when I took really deep breaths my lungs sort of, tingled (for lack of a better word).  It ended up getting worse so I eventually went to the doc and I have exercise induced asthma.  I'm not saying you do at all!  Just be aware of how you feel, etc.  Like medic said, you might just have a cough.</div>
