Announcing the engagement

Looking for a little advice here.  We have announced our engagement to my immediate family (parents and siblings), but not to my extended family.  I think I am a little worried about what they will say or think since it is a second marriage for both of us.  Also, some might think it is too soon (we have been together just over a year.) Anyway, how would you go about telling people about the engagement and upcoming wedding?  Looking for any ideas and advice.  Thanks so much!

    You could just let the word spread out from those you've already told.  If you'd rather make a formal annoucement, you can either send out engagement announcements or have an engagement party, but if it were me, I'd just let the word make the rounds.  If you have a date for the wedding set already, you could go ahead and send out your STDs and that will take care of both annoucements.

    I simply told people as I ran into them or spoke to them.  DH did the same.  There was no formal announcement.
