Dress Problem

Is there any way to exchange a bridesmaid dress that shows up and is way to big and cannot be altered because it will never look right bc it is 3 sizes too big.  Altering it will completely make the dress look absurd bc it is draped in chiffon.  What is the rule at most bridal shops on this.

Re: Dress Problem

  • I guess i should mention this dress was not mine to begin with.  It was ordered for another girl who is no longer a bridesmaid and I was asked to replace her and I guess the bride did not want her to be out money.
  • Well since the bridal salon didn't make a mistake they are not responsible for your situation. So my guess is you are just stuck and will have to figure out how to make this dress work or buy a new one.

  • It probably won't work.  I would just buy a new one (or a used one) that's in or closer to your size.  The rule of thumb is generally 2 sizes.  You could try and check with a seamstress, see what they think, but it's not really your problem whether the kicked out BM loses money or not.
