Dinner Questions

I'm having a sit down dinner.  I decided to go the easier route and have what they call a duet (chicken and beef or beef and fish).  Since I'm not letting the guests chose the meal I didn't need to have a choice on the response card.  I'm still wondering if I should put the menu in the invitations or just have one the night of.  That goes for the children's meal too.  I'm planning on having a vegetarian dish made for those I know are vegetarian but I'm worried that I will miss someone.  We didn't put anything on the response card.  I'm also worried about who gets a children's menu.  What age do children tend to start eating a full meal?

Thanks,
Jackie

Most places say "12 and under" get the kids meal. But then some say "10 and under".

You aren't letting them choose their food? I've never heard that before. Is that to save money, make it easier...?? I feel like if I didn't get to choose what I was served, there'd be  a lot of "ooo, that looks good, why didn't i get that?" But that's just my opinion.

It's a duet so everyone will get the same thing....a half portion of chicken florentine and pepper seared beef tenderloin with mash potatoes and veggies unless we change it to a half portion of crab cakes and pepper seared beef tenderloin with mash potatoes and veggies.  They said they can do something different for the vegertarians.   We decided on the duet to make it easier with the ordering and so that we could have beef for less.  Sorry if that wasn't clear in the last one...everyone will get the same we just haven't decided which duet to do yet.

Their children's menu is 8 and under.  I'm not worried about the people near the top of the list I'm worried at the bottom.  Like if someone is bringing their 3 year old will they expect a kids meal?  I was thinking about putting something on the response card but got talked out of it.

This is what I am facing too... Our initial thoughts are to let guest have 3 choices (fish, beef and poultry). After our meeting with a caterer, they suggested it is more easier for the staff to do a trio plate and more economical too (they do not have to prep extra plates in case guests change their minds)

Jackie, to answer your questions, children meals are usually for 10 under. And for our response cards, we are wording "Please indicate your meal choices and specify any allergies". Following that phrase, we have the choices of regular menu, vegatarian, children.

    HTH!
