Ceremony help

I need some help! My fiancé's grandpa who is not a pastor is going to be our officiant. I have already gotten him ordained but I am looking for ideas as to how the ceremony should flow. We have chosen vows but since I don't have a "traditional" officiant any recommendations for the rest of the ceremony would be appreciated!

are you needing an order of service for the ceremony? If so, here are some things to look into....

    1. opening words from the officant (ex. "Dearly Beloved we are gathered here today.......")
    2. opening prayer or reading of your guy's choice
    3. Definition of marriage Here the officiant says some words about marriage in general
    4. wedding vows and exchange rings
    5. second reading or prayer
    6. unity ceremony
    7. closing - like a poem or prayer
    8. Declaration of Marriage - when he pronounces you husband and wife
    9. then you turn around and walk back down the aisle together

    Hope this helps you....

Ditto Tiffy.  The one thing to look into is whether or not you have to have the vows and statement of intent.  Some states require both for the marriage to be considered legal.  If so, you'll need to include both (statement of intent is where you answer with "I do" or "I will," vow is the part where you say something to your spouse).
