Stupid and/or funny things you've heard in the media lately....

Sooooo, I'm bored with anything news-related right now because they're all just talking about LeBron's return to Cleveland tonight....  I thought I'd share a couple stupid and funny things I've heard in the past day or so on the TV and radio and hopefully get some from you all.

I was watching Good Morning America while at the gym this morning, and they had a segment on recycled Christmas decorations.  The woman doing the segment suggested making a holly leaf wreath out of soda cans.  SERIOUSLY?  YOU'RE TELLING AMERICA TO CUT UP SODA CANS AND THEN MAKE A WREATH WITH LOTS OF SHARP ALUMINUM EDGES?????  I smell lots of potential lawsuits.

Last night, I was driving home, and they were talking about butt dialing on the radio.  A woman called in and said "Well, it's not really butt dialing, but one night at around 2am my husband and I were having sex.  I didn't realize that my phone was in the bed, and we somehow ended up calling my boss.  When I got to work the next day, my boss said "I didn't realize what it was until I was already scarred for life.""  Yeah, that sucks hardcore.

Now you go.

  • The otter attacks down here made CNN news.  Really?  This is news worthy?

  • That last story is f-ing hilarious.

There's this story today from thelocal Sweden: http://www.thelocal.se/30566/20101202/ (women who sunbathe lead better lives)

And this one too: http://www.thelocal.se/30564/20101202/ (Surgeon performing surgery on a trophy)
  • My favorite headline ever is a over decade old and from an Oklahoma City paper, but it still makes me giggle:

"Few show up for anti-apathy rally."

  • On Rachel Maddow the other night they showed a clip and one of the congressmen said that extending UE benefits won't create jobs because, "unemployed people don't hire people!" and "spending money doesn't boost the economy!" Way to have ever taken an economics class, Mr. politician.

[QUOTE]This is an old story, but have you guys ever seen in video of the congressman who said that Guam was going to tip over? It's somewhere on YouTube. This guy is sitting on a government panel, hearing a request from a high-ranking military officer about putting more troops on Guam. They congressman asked if the general was worried about Guam tipping over from all the extra weight. The general didn't skip a beat and just responded that they hadn't looked into that option yet. So freakin' hilarious.

Congressmen say the craziest things. I should know, I work in Congress.

I haven't seen anything particularly crazy on the news lately, but that is probably because I can barely watch the news anymore. Since I work in politics (although my specific job is non-political) I just get so burnt out I can only stand to watch trash like 90210 and America's Next Top Model when I get home.

Yes, and I was also upset. I really liked Jane the whole time, I think she did have a personality. Tyra has a very specific definition of "personality" however. I think she is BSC but I just can't get enough of ANTM.

Also, Ann's Cover Girl picture just looked like a disembodied head.
  • All I know is that I used to ADORE reading J. Harvey's recaps of ANTM on A Socialite's Life.  ADORE.  I didn't even feel the need to watch the show.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • I had to go and look at Celles bio and check out the awesome-ness. Where did you get your shoes dyed? Did Payless have the teal color?

I am so glad I am not the only one who saw that and thought her head was floating in space.  It was probably my least favorite picture of her the whole season.  I found their critiques for her photo to be so contradictory to what they usually want in a photo. (when have the ever been ok with no neck in the picture?)  I think both girls are good and will have careers, but I too was rooting for the other girl.

I think Jane's problem was her personality didn't show up in pics.  I liked her but I did think her pics were pretty flat sometimes.
