Matching Stationary

Hi ladies,

I found some invitations that I love.  I had been set on ordering EVERYTHING matching - invites, RSVP card, place cards, thank you notes and I would have done programs if I could too....  The particular style I love the most doesn't happen to have a note/thank you card included with that design so if I were to go with that one, I'd have to select different stationary for the thank you cards.  Everyone I have spoken to insists this is no big deal and I know I'm just being OCD about it.  What would you do?  Select a runner up choice or just choose coordinating paper by the same company but in a different pattern or perhaps even just plain for the missing pieces of stationary knowing they won't be an identical pattern?

    Definitely don't stress out about the matching thank you notes. Honestly, you'll notice this detail, but I guarantee 99.9% of your guests won't. Just pick something that complements your invitation suite. There are so many other details to think about, so please do yourself a favor and move on.

    Our paper items followed our colors and I tried to match the fonts, but pretty much I just ordered them/made them as I wanted too.

    TY's definitely don't have to match your invites!

    My TYs are going to match the invites, but only because they come together as a set.  However, my escort cards and programs will be different.  I will keep the colors/fonts consistent but the design will not match.  I don't think anyone will notice/care.

    I just picked up TYs at Wal-Mart.  They sort of coordinated (they were white and silver, which were two of our colors), but I wasn't actively aiming for that.  TYs usually get read and tossed, don't stress about how they look.
    This is a neglected planning bio.
    This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Where are you getting your stationary? If it is from a paper shop and you are looking at the big books with samples there is an almost 100% chance you can do matching thank yous even if they don't show one. Most stationary is just categorized by paper size and color and pretty customizable besides that so this might even apply if you are ordering your paper online. Even if they don't show a "thank you card" you can probably just use the same paper as the response card and have your names, a monogram, or graphic from the other paper goods printed on it to tie it all together. It might end up being a flat card instead of a folded one, but it would match. I might be weird, but for some reason I prefer flat cards anyway.

    I wouldn't worry about notes matching at all. 

    Sad but true: since you send your invites 6-8 weeks before your wedding, and best case scenario send the note 2 weeks after your wedding....it's really unlikely that a significant number of people are going to remember your invitation well enough from 2 months before to realize that the thank you note matches.

    I'd just pick something I like and then roll with it.
