Need Opinions on Shoes

Hey all!

So I'll be getting married in May of 2013.  I plan on having my girls wear cocktail lenght pale purple dresses (although we haven't actually shopped for them yet, so it COULD change).  But I've already been getting questions about what shoes I want them to wear.  I would like to allow the girls to choose their own shoes with some boundaries.  I was planning on telling them I'd like them to wear black, with some heel, and probably a satin-y fabric.

1) How do you feel about mis-matched shoes - letting each girl pick their own?  Do you think it's fun or looks sloppy?
2) Do you think that makes sense?  I have gotten some opinions that black will be too dark for a spring wedding.  I know silver would probaby make the most sense, but I have a yellow gold ring and would prefer to stay away from silver that I feel would look silly if other things are yellow gold...

Thoughts???

Thanks!

Re: Need Opinions on Shoes

  • My girls are wearing short purple dresses as well. I am having them pick their own black shoes. I want them to be comfy. Plus since they are paying for their dresses I thought black was a common type of dress shoe that they might already have.

  • I completely agree with PP.  My BMs wore knee length pink dresses (they bought) and I asked them to wear gold shoes with no restrictions.  Some already had gold shoes, others bought shoes they would wear again.

Please don't require your BMs to wear the same shoes unless you pay for them!  I was in a wedding and we were all asked to buy the same shoes.  They were terribly uncomfortable and the day after the wedding I took them to Goodwill.  They were cheap ($25), but still a waste or $25 for me!

Besides, you really don't notice looking back at pics, here are a few of mine:

    And here's the variety:

  • I'm in a wedding this year with plum colored dresses. We are all wearing sliver heels with no restrictions.. Which is nice because not all the girls like the same height in heels and some want open toe, etc. Id let them pick their own.
