We're spending about $3000 but the photographer was the one vendor we were willing to splurge on, and we get 2 photographers who are amazing! We also got a deluxe package. The starting package for our photographer was just under $2000

  • Photography is really expensive where I am from, my MOH's aunt and uncle are great photographers, so I knew I wanted them.. the package we chose from them normally would have been a little over 5k, but they gave it to us for 3k, so we're happy!

  • I struffled with this decision too.  We met with a photographer who was $800 and it definitely showed in his work.  They were clearly pictures that I could've taken myself.  Then we met with another photographer his highest package was $5400.  Obviously, we were not paying that but we did get his cheapest package with unlimited coverage of the day, so the total is $2225.  My FI and I are also buying the rights to the pictures so I can get prints whenever I want which will be an additional $1000.  It is definitely more than I felt comfortable spending but these pictures are all that is left after the wedding.  We are not having a videographer so that photographer is very important.  And this photographer does take gorgeous pictures so we will definitely be getting our money's worth.

  • Ours is $2,200 for: an engagement session, 8 hrs of coverage w/ an assistant (who also takes some pictures), online gallery to view and order pics., DVD of all images with media usage rights, and one of the following: guestbook, thank you cards or photo share cards.
We found photogs. who were less (as was the quality of their pictures) and more expensive. Ours was a little more than we wanted to spend, but we love her work and really clicked with her. We also thought she'd do the best communicating with our BP and fam (esp. FI’s GM).

  • We have not booked yet but our top 3 choices are within the $3,000-$4,500 range. It's over the budget which was "allowed" by some budget calcuatlor but since it's 1 of our priorities we will spend less elsewhere to accomodate.
  • Our photog is $2195.. My photog is one thing i was definetly going to splurge on.

  • I am looking at a photog with a package of 40 5x7 prints + CD images for $680.  Since it will be just the two of us we aren't looking for something high end.  This package includes a two hour shoot before during & after the ceremony

  • I had a tough time, too, with this one.  So many to choose from, and either really high prices or really cheap prices but poor quality.

I actually found my photographer on Craigslist for $1000 which includes 2 photogs for the entire day plus copyright release, coffee table book, and all images on DVD.  They just moved to the area so they were looking to get bookings under their belt.  So far, it looks like a steal!  We'll see how it goes after the engagement session.

So I would definitely reccomend Craigslist.  There's a lot to weed out, but you may find just what you're looking for.

-Additional DVD which is our album set to music

  • Our package was $1750, which includes an engagment session, 8 hrs of photography, and a disc of edited images with rights to print.  Laura's work is amazing for the price; everyone else I found with work of similar quality was $2500 and up (for less time and no engagement session).  I think it really just depends on the area.
  • We are spending $1,000 but ours is a family friend so he gave us a little deal :) His pictures are awesome! Can't wait.

    Hi Melanie,

His name is Milton Harris. He works with Metromedia photography. He did my sister's wedding so it was an easy choice and he's a really nice guy.

  • I need to sort out a photographer soon. After seeing how all you ladies have yours booked and having a friend tell me not to wait because all the good ones will be booked early has lit a fire under my butt. I'm hoping to spend around $1,500 but can afford up to $2,000. I have to keep telling myself I have extra budget money lying around since I won't have to decorate the reception venue (aquarium). My biggest challenge is finding someone who has experience shooting at the aquarium because of the lighting and reflection challenges.
