Nevada-Las Vegas

Back from Vegas with some checks!

I just got back yesterday from my scouting trip to Vegas. I am sooooooo glad I went. It's so amazing how things can completely change. One the the main reasons why I wanting to go was to look at the Vista Suite which I had booked a couple months ago.

Vista Suite @ Mandalay Bay
The first thing I did was go to Mandalay Bay to check out the Vista Suite. All the rooms were booked so I asked if we could come back the next day and they said sure just come between 12 and 3 pm. Well, we came back and they told us they were still booked but to come back in two days and they would be available to tour. We were leaving the following day so we decided to say an extra night just to see the damn room. FAIL! We went back on the day they told us and again no rooms were available to view. They were extremely rude and didnt care one bit about us having our reception there. So I decided to cancel my reservation and get my money back. I didn't want to have to deal witht these people and horrible customer service on my wedding day.
Retro Bakery
I emailed them and they never got back to me so I called to see about taste testing. They don't do that. You have to buy their cupcakes of each flavor to pick which one you want for your cake, so I decided to pass on them.
Freed's Bakery
We went taste testing here. So nice and helpful! And the cakes and fillings were delicious! I really recommend using them for your wedding cake. They will do anything to make you happy!
The Wedding Chapel at Treasure Island
Loved it! It was on its own floor so it was very calm and peaceful. The chapel was beautiful and Claudia was very helpful and walked me around the whole place. I felt very comfortable and I know thing will go very smooth on my wedding day, so I bookedit! I'm soooooo excited to have my ceremony here!
The Stardust Suite at The Orleans
Since the Vista Suite did not go as planned I decided to check this suite out! All I can say is WOW! Its is absolutely amazing! I loved how it had a balcony so the guest can go out and smoke. The views are out of this world. You can see the entire strip, its crazy. We talked with Jay who was the most helpful person we could have of imagined. He didn't leave one detail out. You do have to use their catering, but if you spend 3500 then the room is free and that includes alcohol. They supply any table you need to bring in, any tablecloths you need, they have lots of decor for you which is really nice to have.  I did some math and it'll come out cheaper in the long run. I'm definately going to have my reception here. I don't think I'll be pleased with anything else. The Stardust Suite is the best I could ever think of! I took many picture of the suite so if anyone want them, just let me know.

Well I think that's everything. I'm so happy I went and am very excited about how things are coming along! :) YAY!

    Congrats on your checks!!

I had my reception in the Stardust Suite, best decision we made aside from getting married in Vegas.  We had the Media Suite booked but I was nervous about size and timing, etc....  Definitely wouldn't change a thing.  We had 85 guests, they were amazed and are still talking about how cool the room was.  The connecting room (the one you get the night of your reception to sleep in) was huge too.  Are you going to have a DJ?

Wow well I just booked my Vista Suite a month ago and now I'm really having second thoughts :(

Sorry to hear that it didnt go well along with the Retro Bakery atleast you found other places!!! How much was the Stardust Suite going for and do you think it would fit 50 people? Also when you canceled your Vista Suite, did they refund you all of your money?

    Thank You!!!!

@ wallacje, I saw your pictures and it makes me even more excited to have it there! They are beautiful. I can't wait to have my reception there. Yes we did see the connect room... Amazing! I love the huge mirrors and the huge shower that could fit like 10 people lol. I'm not sure about a DJ yet, they have that IPod dock and speakers in the ceiling so I might go that direction
@ JenniferPro89, the stardust suite could fit 50 people easily, its 2500 sq ft! with tons of seating. And when I cancelled the Vista Suite I got a full refund, you have until 48 hours prior to your reservation to cancel and get everything refunded which was really nice! I hope that helps. If you have anymore questions let me know!

I had a horrible experience with Freeds.  I got the run around so many times on the phone and email that I stopped trying.  I ended up going with Creations.
Until the first full year of being one! Anniversary

@ AJF021410, Yes you can have outside photographers and cake, but with the cakes its a 2.50 per person additional. Im using Todd as well and was thinking of using the cakes at The Orleans because it goes towards the $3500 minimum and its cheaper than freeds! Hope that helps!

Congrats on all your checks!  When we were looking at ceremony sites, TI would have been a great option, the coordinator I talked to was great and the florist prices weren't bad either!

Just wanted to say to other brides, when I priced out our suite (The L Suite, which is more than Vista), it came out cheaper for us than Stardust.  Maybe our difference is due to guest count though, not sure.

Good luck to all in-suite brides, fingers crossed for all of us!

I am getting married in Vegas and still can not find a ceramony and recption place that doesn't try to plan my whole wedding for me....I never thought of using a suite. that's great Idea. Can I see the pictures on the one at the orleans that you liked?

If you are looking for suites, people should also check out Cosmopolitan. They are really new so there is not a lot of people who have used it yet. Maybe one or two have booked. But they have huge suites, with kitchens because they were originally intended to be condos. They have big balconies. The Cosmopolitan does not have a wedding chapel, so not too likely you have to use their photographer etc, because they don't have one. Just another option for those worried about the Vista Suite

Also, I wrote a letter about our crappy front desk service and I got a free night at one of their other suites so not all is lost!

The cosmo suites are a bit small.....not to mention I know someone that had $16,000 in personal possessions stolen from their room recently...
