Photographer gets a hotel room?

Our photographer is coming from an hour away to our wedding.  They will be staying until about 10pm. later if they feel they would like to get more pictures.  Do FI and I need to provide a hotel room, or just include information about the hotel block?

Re: Photographer gets a hotel room?

  • Unless it's in your contract, I wouldn't feel the need to book a hotel room for your photographer. Sure it's nice, but definitely not necessary.
  • It would never occur to me to offer a hotel room for a distance of an hour. I honestly don't even know how far most of our vendors came, although I do know my photographer was at least an hour away. But I couldn't begin to tell you where any of the band members lived, except that I knew they performed in my area.

An hour away?  No, especially since it sounds like they're only contracted until 10 and then can stay at their own discretion.  If you had contracted them until super late or they were driving 3+ hours, then probably, but in this situation I think you're fine.  I don't think I'd even give them the hotel block info unless they asked.
  • I would think an hour is par for the course.
  • as others said, i would think if they wanted a room, it would have been in your contract.

  • I would absolutely NOT pay for their hotel room untill otherwise contracted- however, I would definitely let them know about any hotel blocks you have set up for them to take advantage of! Good luck!

  • It's an hour away and it's not like he'll be drinking at your wedding or anything (being on the job and all).
