Need Vintage Venue Ideas

I badly need some venue ideas. Ideally, I'd like a garden/outdoor setting or something with a vintage feel, like a ballroom. I'm on a bit of a budget so I can't get married somewhere that's outrageously expensive. I would take any suggestions in the Akron, Cleveland, or in between area. I've already made appointments with Stan Hywet Hall and the Botanical Gardens. The tentative date for the wedding is next summer and we'll have about 150 guests.

Thanks in advance!

aren't stan hywet hall and botanical gardens known for being outrageously expensive? haha, anyway, i highly recommend club hillbrook in chagrin. we just had our wedding there and we are STILL getting compliments from guests saying how it was the best location they have ever seen for a wedding and that they have since gone to other weddings and no other wedding will over compare to ours at hillbrook! so definitely check it out! it's a huge tudor masion in the middle of a forest so it's an outdoor ceremony/reception (covered reception in case of rain).

and here are some more teaser pictures that our photographer took of us there so you can see a few more details about it. it's drop-dead gorgeous, and literally there are endless picture opportunities.

(scroll bar is at the bottom, just scroll right to see the photos)

    i highly recommend hillbrook!

Lol. Well, I haven't visited Stan Hywet or Botanical Gardens yet, so I might fall over when I hear the prices. Thanks for the tip to check out Club Hillbrook. It's beautiful! Your wedding pictures are gorgeous too. I love your cake!

Also, you may want to check out Springvale Ballroom in N. Olmsted. Their minimum is 200 though. I attended a dance there once and it's nice.

How about Mooreland Mansion on the east side? It's good for smallish weddings (100--150?). A friend of mine had her reception there and it's gorgeous! The main dining area is actually L-shaped, which not everyone likes, but it works for the space. The wedding I attended had the dance floor setup on the attached patio deck which overlooks some lovely gardens. Mooreland is in Kirtland.

Nicholson House in Lakewood is basically a huge historic house for rent. Maybe check into that, too? Max is 125.

I would check out Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby Hills. It is catered by Sammys so you should contact them for more information. The ceremony and reception spaces are beautiful!

I am getting married there, so let me know if you have any questions about Manakiki!

I also agree with Jacqui, brace yourself for the prices at Stan Hywet and the Botanical Gardens, unfortunately neither of these venues are inexpensive.

Check out Greystone. I am doing a vintage themed wedding and the decor is nice and they are reasonably priced. $17 per sit down dinner which is by far the cheapest that I could find. Unfortunately, the people that work there are extremely rude but I also looked into Stan Hywet and such and I believed they were a little overpriced. Goodluck. If you need any additional help you can email me at jmsyroid at aol dot com. Like I said, I am also going with the vintage theme, so we are in the same boat but my wedding is this Winter.

One more! I don't know much about it, but possibly consider the Columbia Ballroom in Columbia Station. It's supposed to be a classic ballroom space. I can't find any pics online though.

Pine Ridge CC and Manakiki would be worth checking.  Lake forest CC in HUdson is a great venue as well that offers a mansion feel inside with a beautiful garden wedding spot for a ceremony on premises!

I posted a long thing about Greystone to one of you.....Its a beautiful place and Im having my wedding there in November, but unless you want to be treated like crap, choose somewhere else. lol.  I am doing an extreme 1920s theme though, and this is the only place that fits the style.  Im trying to keep in mind that when the day is over and Im done dealing with these people, I will have pics to last a lifetime :)

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah I've heard some horror stories about Greystone, which is a shame because it looks so nice from the website photos. We're going to tour there on Tuesday so I'll see what kind of vibe I get from the staff. I don't know if I need the added stress of rude people to add to my day.

Have you thought about Carrie Cerino's in North Royalton? Their ballroom has a really elegant "vintage" feel to it. They have a bunch of pictures of wedding receptions throughout the ages there and it's really interesting. I don't know what they have in terms of outdoor space though.
