NWR: Cleaning Trick?

Hi Ladies,

I am in need of a trick to clean our stove top and I wasn't sure if one of you had any ideas. Fi and I have a flat top stove (no metal burners) and we had a pan of water boil over and burn to the stove.  NOTHING is getting it off. We have tried scrubbing and scrubbing with any type of kitchen cleaner you can imagine.  Anyone have any ideas of what may take this off?

Thanks so much in advance!!

  • I second Bar Keeper's Friend. It will clean anything.
  • Amber, if you find something that works can you let me know?  Fi did the exact same thing to our stove a little while ago...just a little burn spot, but I thought we had ruined the stove top!

  • Oh, definitely the special cleaner! I've been a housekeeper, haha. I can't recall the name brand I've used before, but it was specifically for flat top stoves. It gets everything off, doesn't scratch, no residue or streaks. Just read the directions so you do it the correct way.

... and try vinegar before you go buy something special! :)

My mom has this also. And there is a bottle of cleaner that goes with it. It's like a white cream almost - it works really well!

  • Beyond vinegar, the magic eraser, and bar keeper's friend, try ethanol - 100% works amazingly but if you can't find that 90% may work.

This is what we use. It comes with scrubbing pads. It has cleaned the stuff even vinegar wouldn't get off. We use vinegar throughout the week and clean with this every Sunday. If something spills and vinegar won't get it off we pull this out during the week sometimes.

    It is freaking amazing.

Edit: We get it at walmart for less than $4 I think. We've had our bottle since last February and it still has quite a bit in it.
  • Magic Eraser is a life saver :)
