  Go to your local travel bureau and pick up some brochures for local attractions...they're free.   You could also print out a map of the area.

  I think snacks and the letter would be great.  And, I like gpapale's idea about the brochures for things to do in the area!

  Yup... pretty much what everyone else has said. For mine, I also threw in a schedule of events for the weekend. We also included directions to and from the venue, church and rehearsal dinner from the hotel location.

  I made door hangers that say "recovering from our wedding" which turned out really cute. I plan to also make some labels for water bottles and bake some chocolate chip cookies to put in there with some maps and brochures.

  def. free brochures and go to Sam's Club or Cosco for the goodies. That's what we're doing.
