wedding at reception site - suggestions please

is anyone planning a wedding at the reception site? we are having our wedding outside on the beach at the reception site then cocktail outside on a deck area while we take photos and holding the reception inside (hopefully the weather permits all of this - otherwise the wedding will be in a tent). Is anyone else doing this? how do you make it feel like the guest are not being rushed along - I really want them to enjoy themselves. any advice would be great! thanks

  • Your venue should be QUITE used to this, nobody will feel rushed along. Most guests prefer it this way, as there is less hassle in trying to drive from one location to the other.

    Enjoy and good luck!
  • We are having the ceremony and reception at the same location. We are going to do photos after the ceremony, so while we are doing that, there will be a cocktail hour for our guests.

  • I am having the ceremony at the recption also, and the venue is very used to this. I dont see why anyone would feel rushed. Even though its at the same location the events are being held in different areas of the location. I dont forsee any problems with it.
  • My ceremony and reception are at the same place as well. The wedding is at 5. Cocktail hour is from 6-7. And then dinner will be served at 7p. We will take some pictures after the ceremony and this will give guest time to mingle and unwind before dinner. And if its nice out guest may want to even walk around and take in the beautiful scene.
