Not your typical venue request

Hi, all!!  I'm new to this, so bear with me if others have asked this.  It's very similar to a lot of the "Where's a good venue" topics.  Well...I have an interesting twist to mine.

I am the ONLY person in my family and friends that live in California!!  My closest relatives (parents) are in central AZ.  FI and I, and most of his family & friends, live in Temecula or other parts of Riverside County.  I've chosen San Diego because of the airport.  I figured close to an airport would be easiest on OOTers (Montana, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Florida, North Carolina, Idaho, and Michigan are the states people are coming from).  So I'd like to keep it close to the airport and downtown area to help cut the transportation cost for them as it's just not in the budget for FI and I to do anything about that to help them.  I'd also like it to be as inclusive as possible.  While I don't mind doing DIY stuff (invites, STDs, favors), I hate the idea of my parents, family, and WP hanging around after hours to clean up and pack up decor and such.

Any suggestions and ideas anyone can pass this way would be greatly appreciated!!!

My day of coordinator does a one stop shop kind of thing.  they do flowers, food, set up, tear down, the planning, and completely customize.  I know she just did an awesome wedding in Balboa park, perfect for a downtown location.  She has many different packages available ranging from every tiny detail, to day stuff.
it's In Style Event Planning.  website is instyleeventplanning.com if you want to check out the blog and see what they've done.    Shellie is the main coordinator and the owner.  She has a bevy of resources at her fingertips and goes above and beyond for her brides.   I just really enjoy working with someone who genuinely wants to take care of the details for me on my special day so i can just be a bride and my loved ones can enjoy the day with me and my future hubby, instead of working!

Thank you for the info!  I was thinking a day of coord would probably be the best way to make sure my family can just be my family that day.  I just hope she's in the budget.  :)

    Thanks!

The San Diego Women's Club was decent. The building is historical looking and downtown. They have all the tables and chairs and will set them up, you would just need linens. There is a small kitechen and the provide a suggested caterer, who is really affordable.

You can also look at the gardens in Balboa Park - Japanese Friendship Garden works well.
