Social Security Name Change

For all you married ladies - Do I need to bring anything with me besides my certified marriage certificate and my drivers license? It doesn't look like it on the form, but I don't want to have to go back.

Also, did you get your new card during the visit or did they mail it to you?

I just went on Tuesday and it took like 5 minutes! I gave them ID and Marriage License and had to fill out paperwork and it was done. they printed out a paper saying my new card would be there in 1-2 weeks. I am going to DMV tomorrow with the paper saying it on its way and hopefully wont have any problems :)

Let me know if the DMV is okay with the paper copy! I was hoping to get them both done in the same day.

I've been wondering this too! Does it matter which SS Office you go to or does it depend on your county?

Jbaby- I don't think it matters which office you visit. I'm going to my county one, but only because it is closest.

Incase anyone is wondering - you can change your drivers license at the DMV with the paper given to you at the social security office. The guy at the DMV only gave those a cursory glance and was more interested in my certified marriage certificate.
