procession timing and order

I have a question about the procession timing
the song i have chosen for the processsion is air on g string by bach which is about 5 minutes long. is this long enough to have:
the usher walk my two aunts down the aisle
another usher walk my grandma downt he aisle
the groom walk his mother down the aisle and seat her
the 4 groomsmen walk down the aisle
then the 4 bridesmaids
or would it make more sense to have the 4 groomsmen already standing at the alter by the officiant at the beginning?
Thanks!!! any suggestions will help!

Re: procession timing and order

  • If the groomsmen aren't going to escort the bridesmaids, I would have them stand at the altar from the beginning. Your musicians should be able to smoothly extend/end the piece as necessary to fit the procession, which is what my pianist did with ours (Sweet Child O Mine by Guns and Roses arranged for piano).

  • I agree with the previous posts.  I think groomsmen going down the aisle just tends to look awkward when they're alone.  Guys don't handle the focus of attention as well as women tend to. :)
