Inexpensive Ohio Venues

I know I am way behind Schedule but this year has been hard for me with my father passing away in December I Have completely put off my wedding planning.  I have 5 months until my wedding and I'm looking for any inexpensive ideas, my father was my caterer so now I'm very budgeted. My fiance and I are paying for this completely alone and we just bought a house.

We live in central Ohio but anywhre in Ohio would be fine.  I would prefer an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception. water would be great

I'm originally from Jackson, OH.  It's a very small town an hour and a half south of Columbus.  While it is very small, it will not accomodate much in the way of entertainment (like a bar scene) for guests but there is a beautiful nature preserve if your guests have downtime.  It would be a perfect place for a cheap wedding.

Specifically, there is an old winery there that is absolutely gorgeous.  You can have an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception.  I had a graduation party there so I can send you pictures.  I event plan as well, and would be happy to offer you some help for free there.  I have contacts for the venue, catering, photographers, hotel accomodations, and flowers that will all be significantly lower than here in Columbus.  You can email me at heather at heatherreneecelebrations.com if you need any of the info.
  • What kind of budget are you looking at?

There's a golf club near Delaware called Glenross. They have places to do outdoor ceremonies and an nice, indoor reception hall, with the food and what not. Their cost estimate for our party of about 150 was in the $6000 range.

You could also look into doing something at a state or metro park and then having the reception in an enclosed picnic shelter. My cousin did something like that in Cincinatti (I don't remember the location). Do food like a barbeque.

  • if you are anywhere near mansfield check out kingwood center (http://www.kingwoodcenter.org).
  • Any place you can bring in your own food or alcohol will save you.  Definitely look into the parks and renting the buildings on site
  • I organized a party at Goodale Park and their enclosed shelter rental fee was only $50 and would be a great reception site, plus you have to bring your own food there so you'll have your catering options wide open. I don't know if it will hold all that you want to invite, but definitely check out the city MetroParks for a lower cost option.

They have several different spaces to choose from, and Kelly is incredible to work with!   I also believe that financially, it is a good value.
