Recommendations?

I have no idea what we want to allot in terms of budget. From the various website it looks like 5-8k.

I would like to have 2 photographers for 10 hours. I would like all my proofs without watermark and with the ability to freely print. A photobooth.

I'm not particularly peculiar about having albums, an engagement photo session, or a slideshow.

I have contacted the following people based on the boards:
sarah schulte - waiting for response
mark anthony - waiting for response
aysa - waiting for response
hy paul - waiting for response
single exposure - busy
tony hoffer - busy
denise mabilog - doesn't do weddings
jennifer childress - setting up meeting
jenna walcott - setting up meeting

Thanks for you input!

i am using Hy Paul studios... 2 photographers, unlimited hours, no watermarks etc
only i didnt ask about a photoboth i think you would have to go to someone else for this. i dont think they offer it! the studio takes beautiful pictures( my friedn used them for her wedding) under $3000
  • Aysa I loved her!  She does not do photobooths though.

Keep a look out on livingsocial and groupons for photobooths.

  • Joy Moody, she does photo booths too.
  • I'm using m2 Photography. Their packages are customizable. They do offer a "photobooth" - it's a white screen with various props that they use a 3rd shooter for. I believe their packages start around $3500.

  • My friend just told me about her photographer who I am looking into.  Her name is Teri Pozniak (http://www.tpozphoto.com/) and she's based in Baltimore, which makes her rate waaaay lower than a lot of Philly photogs, and her pics are really beautiful. The only concession is that she asked my friend to pay for her hotel room for the evening of the wedding, which is a small price to pay, considering she's significantly less expensive.

She typically offers 2 photogs and unlimited hours on the wedding day, so that was a huge plus for my friend.  Sounds great to me, too!
  • Denise Mabilog doesn't do weddings???  She did MadamA's wedding in July2010

  • Thanks for all the reponses! Amerbutt81: yeah, Denise Mabilog no longer does weddings. Atleast that's what she said when I emailed her. I really like her style and she came so highly recommended on the boards.

  • I'm using Jenn Childress and her photos are fantastic, but she doesn't do photobooths (to my knowledge).

  • We're using Annie Hosfeld Photography.  I don't think she gets much love from this Philly board but we think she's awesome.  She has a great photojournalistic approach and I think her photos have a light, airy and kind of whimsical feel to them.  I would not describe her style as high fashion (and that's part of the reason why we chose her).

We really liked the fact that she's one of the few photographers, that I know of, who still uses a combination of digital and real film.  You can try to replicate it but I think there's just something special about how a real, developed-in-a-dark-room picture turns out.  She lets you choose the mix as well (i.e. 70% digital, 30% film).  She's also a sweetheart, VERY detail oriented, and quick with communication.  She's got 60-some reviews on other wedding websites, 98% of them 5 stars.  I would check her out!

We also liked the fact that she limits herself to 2 weddings per month (and only 1 per weekend), even during high/peak season.  It might be industry standard among the more established photographers but she highlighted that fact and said she does that to ensure that she's rested, fresh, and operating at her highest level of creativity for each client.
  • check out john barone photography.  he is very reasonable and has a unique way he does the photobooth!
  • We're using LoRusso Studios - they're a husband/wife team based in Jersey (but traveling to Philly).  Two of my good friends have used them (and I was a BM in one of the weddings).  They are a pleasure to work with and do execellent work.  They don't offer a photobooth, but I booked that separately through a different company.

I am using 32 Counties Photraphy, they rock!!

They do not have photobooths but 2 photographers for the entire day is below your budget so maybe you could get a photobooth elsewhere?

I had my e-pics with them and I have gotten nothing but compliments on them and they look super!  The photographers are really cool too, their personality and flexibility is unbeatable!
I've loved you since I was 8 years old...

  • Thanks guys! I'm getting a lot of responses now. I was worried that I wouldn't find anyone because a few of the photographers we contacted were booked and the others hadn't responded. But I think it might be due to the holiday weekend. As an NNP working in the hospital I lose the concept of time and date. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Hopefully will finish this task in the next 2 weeks.

  • Matt Wright (Fig Tree Photography) (<--Clicky).  He's based around Philly, but traveling out to the Poconos for my wedding.  We's AWESOME - very laid back kind of guy.
  • Hi!  We booked Kevin York Photography for our wedding.  He has great prices and a great style!  Good Luck!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions!

I ended up going with John Barone (hollytroup - he does have a neat photobooth idea)
