After wedding party?

I've started to think about this.  Forgive this possibly stupid question, but how does it work?  Our reception will end at 9:30-10pm and our HM flight leaves Sea-Tac at 6am the next morning so we likely won't be sleeping much (if at all) anyhow that night.  I was talking with one of FI's friends about it Saturday and he liked the idea of an after party, but I have no idea how it works.  Do you just meet up with a bunch of people at a bar?  More importantly, do we pay for it?

As I understand it, you just meet up at a bar or club or whatever, and no, you don't pay for it.  Whoever wants to come, comes.

But, personally, I'd rather go back to the hotel w/ FI and let the guests go party if they want to.  : )

I went to my best friend's wedding (haha I always think of the movie when I say that!) and after her reception, we all got together and had an 'after party' in the hotel pool! Laughing  It was just kind of, 'come if you want to'.  Just hanging out, nothing big, fancy, special, or important.  Just like relaxing with all of your friends and winding down after all the excitement! Smile

Agree with PP... I know for our weddings and the friends weddings we've been to lately. The B&G are way too tired to go out, but our friends have gone out. For our wedding our friends were actually too drunk to go out so they all hung out and crashed at one of their appartments.

In our area, typically people head back to the OOT hotel bar to continue the party (this is part of the reason why even local people stay over at the hotel). Everyone covers themselves, definitely no expectations on the bride and groom to pay.

We're not doing one, but when my bro got married (at the Edgewater), we all went back to one of the suites they had rented, and all of his friends had brought copius amounts of booze, so we partied it up in there.  I think that since FI's 10 cousins are staying at the Tulalip that night, an impromptu after-wedding party might occur there anyway...

Yeah, going to talk with FI about it to see if we want to, but wasn't sure how they work. :)  Thanks!

I agree with PP's you will likely be pretty tired. Just a thought; if you don't have to commit to anything I would just see how you feel the day of and decide then. My day was pretty relaxed and I even got plenty of sleep the night before but I was wiped out after the reception that ended at 11PM.
