Disney registry?

My Fi and I are going to Walt Disney World for our Honeymoon next October and our travel agent told us we should look into registering for our honeymoon their. She said we can let people know online what we would like to go do their and also they can just give us disney money if they'd like. I like the idea because if we would like to go to a show they could buy us this as a gift. Im also going to register at other places like kohls, bed bath and beyond and such..but this could be a fun add on? I dont want it to sound rude that I'd like our guest to just give us money or buy us tickets for our honeymoon...if that makes since? Just wondering if anyone else has done this? or have any input? Thanks!!

This is a honeymoon registry and there are mixed feelings on this type of registry. I feel if a couple want to give you something other than household items then they'll give you cash. What you choose to do with the cash is your decision. <div>
</div><div>Also, a lot of HM registries charge a fee of some sort so the person "purcasing" your gift is being charged a service fee. I don't know if this is the case with the Disney registry but it's something to be looked into.<div>

Like PP said, frequently if your guest gives $100 to a "honeymoon registry" for you to do an activity, the company turns around and just gives you $93, taking $7 as a service fee. If I was a guest, this would make me really angry.

Again, not sure if Disney does this, but it's probably better to put any cash gifts you get towards your honeymoon. You will probably get cash from some people even if you register at a few places.

I dislike honeymoon registries. I don't know if yours would be this way but a lot of times I see things like "couples massage" or whatever on there and I think "sex-fest." Personally it doesn't offend me - though I know it offends others - I just think it's pretty tacky. Even things like tickets to shows and stuff sounds like it's asking your guests to help fund your honeymoon instead of giving you items to start your life together - honeymoons aren't necessary, but sheets are. Plus physical items on registries go on sales, can be bought with giftcards, coupons, etc so you never really know exactly how much I spent. Honeymoon registries are so particular that you know precisely what I spent and that's something I really dislike. This is also why I don't give cash in the first place.

Also, like PP said they usually take a cut of the guests' gifts and that's just not cool for either you or the guest.

You're likely to get plenty of cash gifts, particularly if your registries at other places are a little smaller. While I'm generally not opposed to couples asking for some physical items for their honeymoon - ie, travel guides from Amazon, matching beach towels, a cooler, whatever - I feel like you shouldn't direct your guests to give cash gifts and there shouldn't be too many things (even physical things) that scream honeymoon. As fantastic as it may be, it's just a trip and it's going to be over a week after your wedding anyway. As a guest I usually want to get you something a little more lasting.

PS: you sound genuinely confused about this and like you don't want to offend/deceive your guests. I'd do a quick search for honeymoon on this board and see what comes up - a lot of people have REALLY strong opinions on this and most of them are negative. Don't be surprised and try not to take it personally if you get a negative response

You should plan a HM that you can afford without help from anyone from the beginning. THen, any cash gifts that you receive becomes bonus money to do extras on your HM or to offset what you've spent. If you rely on the generosity of others to fund your HM, you might end up disappointed if you don't receive as much as you were hoping for and have to change plans.

As far as I know Disney doesn't charge the fees that many other honeymoon registries do, but they don't actually book the purchases for you. Disney just gives you a gift card with the total amount purchased.

I would definitely not contribute to a Disney registry. I can't even afford my own vacation, why should I fund yours? Pay for the honeymoon you can afford. Use whatever cash gifts you may receive to purchase fun extras, but don't ask for cash from your guests (which is what honeymoon registries do, basically).

Asking for cash gifts is inappropriate even when you try to disguise the request as a Disney HM registry. If people want to give you cash as a gift they will do it without you asking. They already know cash is a great gift.

Just use the cash people give you to put toward your HM and that way you do not risk offending people with a rude request for cash gifts.

This. And if my last trip to Disney taught me anything, it's that you need to book specific dinners and entertainment things weeks (if not months) in advance. You might not be able to book the specific gift a guest gave you, which is very deceiving.

I wanted to do the disney honeymoon registry, but decided against it for many of the reasons listed above. My mother reminded me that when you get a wedding gift, it is to "build" your home with your other, asking people to pay for the honeymoon could seem like an insult.
I would just stick with the regular registry. Besides alot of people are giving cash now anyways.

I second that it is also like asking cash from the guests.......And these type of registries charge some % from what you received from your guests.......So if you want to do something like this it would be nice if you read online reviews about Disney registry.....and then take a wise decision......

Although, even after your registries few guests still prefer to give you cash only or gift cards........You can use that cash for you HM......
