Trendy/Creative/Economical/Cool Venue-S. Florida???

Hi fellow forum members,

I am new to this, just engaged and now wracking my brain to find a cool and different wedding venue that does not cost a billion dollars. Every time I try googeling, the same mainstream hotels pop up. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice, but I really don't see my self getting married in the regular ballroom with print carpeting! If anyone has any suggestions, they are greatly welcomed and very much appreciated. I am thinking maybe a lounge, gallery, or really anything that's interesting I'm open to. I am planning on 80-100 guests.

    MY daughter didn't want her wedding reception in a hotel ballroom either. She and her fiance decided on Miami Beach Botanical Gardens- the least expensive of the outdoor venues they looked at. Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden and Pinecrest Gardens were 2 others that they considered. They chose Miami Beach because they had less restrictions than the other gardens (ending times, decoration restrictions, etc) plus there is an indoor space in case of rain.
    Ask around at work- my daughter actually found her venue this way. It never popped up in our venue search online.
    If you are interested in galleries- try to google art galleries in Miami. I am sure that I remember seeing a few that allowed weddings- not sure of the prices though.
    The Rusty Pelican has beautiful water/city views, The Palms hotel has a nice outdoor space, and Red Fish Grill are a few I can think of.

    • Shooters (broward)
    • Vizcaya (dade)
    • Venetian Pool (dade)
    • Morikami Japanese Gardens (palm beach)

    As a PP mentioned, Miami Beach Botanical Gardens is really nice.  
    For cost reasons as well as proximity to the water, we ended up choosing the Miami Rowing Club on Key Biscayne.  It is owned by the city so its pretty affordable.
    Good luck ... This was the hardest aspect of the wedding for me to figure out (so far; one month to go) ...

    I'm getting married at the New River Inn in Fort Lauderdale.  It's an outdoor venue and quite unique, if you ask me.  They provide a bridal suite so get ready in, a small-ish room that you can use as as a ceremony area (rainy day) or whatever else, and full use of their grounds which has two gazebos on it. It also overlooks the river.  The only drawback is that the train tracks are right next to the venue.
