Wedding Woes

Explain this to me.

Why should I take relationship advice from someone who left her husband just because she was bored?

That "Eat Pray Love" chick is on Today. I read the book; I didn't like her because she just up and left a marriage. Why on earth would I ever take her advice? Why would anyone?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

I didn't read the book or see the movie but I read a review that called it a glorification of selfishness and whining.

It does seem scary that people are falling all over themselves to praise her for this.

I only saw the movie once (and only half watched while doing laundry), but I didn't take that away from it. Yes, it was definitely a selfish move, but I didn't get "bored" out it. I saw it more as she hadn't known what she wanted and realized her needs weren't being fulfilled.

While I don't get the hype, I don't really think it boils down to leaving her husband out of sheer boredom either.

I'm not against leaving a marriage where nothing is terrible, but I do think that if Julia Roberts plays you in a movie of your life, that's a sign that you're lame.  If The Rock plays you, on the other hand, you're awesome.
