Wedding Website

I thought there was a post about this a month or so ago, but couldn't find it.

Anyway, I want to create a website before we make our save the dates.  I would like the url to be personalized with our names.  I know there are a bunch of sites out there.  Which one are you using or do you think is the best?
Thanks!

I was extremely picky when it came to making a wedding website. Most of the ones I looked at, couldn't be customized the way i wanted or they cost money to access some of the features. We eneded up making a free google site. They have some free wedding templates and you can customize it any way you would like. They have a graphical editor so you don't have to use html if you don't want to or don't know how to. It was really easy to use and they have some cool "widgets" that you can add to the page.

    This is for MyWedding users...

I'm looking for password protection. Do guests I've invited have to create their own MyWedding account before entering the "wedpass"? I want to keep it as simple for them as possible.

Yes (they have to create their own password and enter in information like their zipcode I think), but you can set up your site so that you don't have a wedpass.  Originally we had one and then we realized that the chances of someone stalking us and crashing our wedding are slim to none and we, like you, wanted to keep the website process as simple as possible for our guests.  Plus, there's nothing super personal about either of us on the website.

Privacy is very important to me - the names on my knot profile aren't our real names, and I don't mention my vendors on this board.

So of course, I'm absolutely uneasy about having even basic information about my wedding out there. Most people I know who've gotten married didn't have wedding websites for this reason.

Last year, I googled a college ex that I haven't spoken to in years, and found his wedding website - which, of course, I read through. I don't think he would have been amused if he knew this happened!

I'm probably going to Wedding Wire, even though there aren't as many templates that go with the colors I'm using (and it seems all the designs involve damask - hasn't it been declared over?). But it doesn't seem guests have to do anything other than give one password.

I completely understand.  I did the same when I joined TK and my knot profile is always kept private.

Regarding googling our names and finding our wedding website, though, I was concerned at first as well, but when I tried it (using several different variations or our names and combinations using the word "wedding") it never came up - most likely because we didn't use our last names or any other specific identifiable information about us on our website... there's no reason to even have it there in the first place.  That's why I decided it wasn't an issue to not have a password.
