July 28 Brides- a Question!

I know we had this thread a while ago, but I don't feel like going through it.

When are you sending out your invites?

I'm very anxious to just send them out NOW! But I am thinking about next weekend or the weekend after that.

Re: July 28 Brides- a Question!

  • I STILL DON'T HAVE MY FREAKING INVITES FROM MY DESIGNER! But, if all goes well, we will mail them May 21st.  I know addressing, etc. is going to take forever, but we HAVE to mail them before leave for our mini-vacay on May 24th.....so this gets me really stressed out!

Seriously!!! I'd be at their throats. We addressed our invites on our own and it was not too bad (250 guets, but about 150 invites). It took a couple of hours.

  • that's about the number we will be addressing....glad to hear it only took you a few hours! The only day we have 100% free is May 20th. We plan to spend ALL DAY finishing addressing.  If we don't have our invites by then I literally will punch someone.

I think you would be fine mailing yours now if you have everything done - it's totally up to you! One of our friends called us in a panic saying she hadn't gotten her invite yet...it actually really annoyed me that she did that, haha! But people are expecting them so I don't think it would by any means be too early for you.

  • I was planning sending them out last weekend, however, my bridal shower invites haven't gone out yet and my mom doesn't think it is right for our guests to get a wedding invite before a shower invite (my BM's are throwing me the shower)

But I have decided just to send them out this weekend since they are just sitting on my dining room table all stamped and ready to go regardless of when my shower invite went out.

  • We have many out of town and foreign guests so we mailed ours out last week! All my friends kept bugging me about sending them out so I just mailed them. I think if you have everything ready you can just mail them (:

  • Oh and butterfly - I can't believe you still don't have them! I'd be so mad.

Mine are out. I know I sent them earlier than I was supposed to, but they were all ready and sitting on my table taunting me haha.
I also had quite a few people asking me, FI, and my bridesmaids where their invitations were, if they were not invited, etc. so to calm everyone's worries I just sent them out.

  • We are sending ours out on the 21st also, with a rsvp date of July 4th. These are the dates our invitatons lady suggested. We also don't even even have ours yet, we are supposed to get them this week. Luckily our outer envelopes are pre-printed so all we have to address is the inner envelopes.

  • Oooh! I'm tempted to send them out now! I've had people asking me where the invites are. SOME even thought the STD was an actual invitation, grrrr.

Since we sent our STDs back in October, I think we should probably wait at least another week?

  • Omg! Butterfly I can't believe you don't have them. When are they expected arrive?! I'm planning on mailing my invites on the 14th. My RSVP date is July 2.
  • I'm not July 28th, but of course I'm reading all of the threads.

Butterfly, I wrote out 140 invitations this weekend in about 5-6 hours. I was kind of OCD about my handwriting though, since I didn't have time to send to a calligrapher and wanted them to look nice, so I PROBABLY could have finished them in less time.

Just dedicate one day to it, and you'll be totally fine. Also, take breaks between every few of them or else your hand will totally cramp up.

  • I printed all of our envelopes myself about 150 and it only took me a few hours it was fairly simple.

Our wedding is July 20th and we are planning to send the invites around May 20th.  We have an RSVP date of July 1st.
  • We sent ours out two weeks ago (we have a lot of out of town guests and a lot of people who were anxious to get them and asking about them and what hotels we were booking).

  • We are SUPPOSED to get the invitations in the mail today or tomorrow. I will believe that when I see it. Then, the actual invitations are SUPPOSED to be done by "the end of the week" (even though she promised that I would have them by LAST MONDAY!). I will also believe that when I see it.

My fiance says my handwriting looks looks like I write with my feet....so I will be the organizer and my fiance will do all the writing. I am really nervous about it! Like you bridetobe we had planned to use a calligrapher but ran out of time thanks to my stupid etsy lady. I am going to rip her a new one in her Etsy feedback as soon as I get the darned invitations from her.

I'm sending most of mine this weekend and a handful next week (when my FI finally gives me his friend's significant others' names). I'm super paranoid about something going wrong if I use the same post office so I'm going to drop my invites off at 4 different post offices. Crazy I know. I have a lot of driving to do this weekend so it won't be out of my way to do this.

**Ladies if you haven't already addressed your invites, I had a huge mishap this past weekend. I had a pile of rsvp envelopes on my table, but only pre-stamped half of them.  I got through almost all of the pile before I realized that some of the invitations were sealed without having the stamp on the rsvp envelope!!! Luckily I was using double sided tape for most of the invites (until I ran out of the tape) to seal the main envelopes, and they were super easy to re-open. I did ruin one envelope though in order to get it open.  **Please don't make this mistake. Pre-stamp everything before you start assembling and sealing your invitations!
  • Ours haven't arrived yet, but that's my fault because I kept changing the wording. Had a hard time figuring out how to have it say everything and not be crowded with text. They should be here by the end of the week so I'm going to address them on the weekend, well as long as having both of our Mother's day plans doesn't end up being super time-consuming. At the latest, they should be sent out by mid-week next week.

We just sent the STD in January (got engaged in December).
