cruise to carribean

Just booked our cruise to the carribean for 7 days. Any advice for a first time cruise? I am so excited but alittle nervouse. The one stop is their own island half moon cay and it looks so nice.

Re: cruise to carribean

  • Great advice from CMGr

Also, no need to bring your own towels or hair drier. They supply fresh bath towels in the room, and pool/beach towesl up at the pool that you can trade in for fresh ones as often as you'd like. But make sure you turn them in at the end or they'll charge you for them.
  • you said the 'one stop'. is that the ONLY stop?

you can bring your own luggage to your room and depart with your own luggage. no need for them to do it. it usually takes HOURS for it to get to your room. if you dont bring your own on at emabarkation make sure you have everything you need for the rest of the day in your carry on.

i find that I do enjoy the speciatly restaurants. check out the  menus before you automatically discount them as something you dont need to do.

you dont have to bring a whole extension cord with you unless you'll have a lot of electronic stuff that has to be plugged in all at the same time.

pack less than you think youll need.

remember to bring a cardigan or wrap for dinner. it gets chilly in the restaurants and other parts of the ship with the AC.

  • Good advice from CMGr. I did find that I liked the professional photography on our recent cruise, although expensive and sometimes cheesey.  But, they did take some really nice candid shots and we also did a formal shoot on "formal night." We spent about $200 on photos throughout the week which I agree is unneccesary, but they are really nice photos (and we got all digital files for them as well)

I also found that dinner while in port was much more expensive than the (free) dinner on the ship. Try to plan your days to make it back to the ship in time for dinner to keep food costs down.

    Have fun!

  • Check out www.cruisecritic.com It is to cruising what the Knot is to WP.

At least lurk on your Roll Call thread on cruise critic . . . that's the message board populated by other people who will be on your ship.  Go to the meet & greet they set up.  You don't have to stay but you may meet officers & they may want to help celebrate your HM in some way.

Take 1/2 the clothes you think you need & 2x the money.  I'm only half kidding. Drinks especially can be expensive.

Try new things . . . food is included so it can be a great time to expand your horizons.
  • thanks everyone all such good advice im so excited and we stop at 3 ports grand turk, halfmoon cay, and freeport.
