Honeymoon Destinations

Hey all!

Has anyone else had a particularly hard time choosing a honeymoon destination? I've been driving myself crazy for days. I have an idea of what I am looking for, but so far, have not found it.

I think I've gotten probably 15 different quotes already...LOL

we want tropical, but not Mexico...

a Nice honeymoon-ish type room, not a holiday inn type room.

a place that doesn't have BED BUGS!!! (OMG...reading trip advisor reviews are scarring me for life!)

I also don't want it to be swarming with kids...a few are OK, but not overrun.

a few food choices (resteraunts would be nice...don't have to be directly at the hotel, but near enough by that it could be considered as an option.

and drinks! I want to be able to enjoy a cocktail on the beach...

You'd think this would be easy, but no!!! First I was looking at all-incllusives, such as secrets, and sandals...looks great, until I was seeing bed bug reports for just about every sandals location! and also quite a few bad reviews about bars closing early, etc.

SCUBA diving is also a must...

I found a few places that looked incredible, and were even in our price range.....and no SCUBA diving.

I've found places that have the best diving in the world, but the hotels and resorts are kinda meh...

so far, I am in a toss up between:

Maui Westin resort in Lahaina
The Hyatt in Aruba
The Cove at Atlantis, Bahamas

Where have you guys decided on?

I went to Aruba this past summer and it was by far my favorite vacation! The island is beautiful and there are plenty of restaurant choices and things to do. We stayed at the Marriot Stellaris but heard fantastic reviews about the Hyatt from others.

I've also been to Atlantis, and it was a good time but I think you'll find more kids/families there. Aruba also has several underwater ship wrecks that make for some good scuba diving!

    Hope that helps!

Thank you! It helps a lot!

If we were to do Atlantis, we would stay in the cove, which is the more luxry section...my fiances family goes there a lot, and says there is not many kids in that part, since it's more high end. We would only choose to do this, if his aunt is able to get us a discount (she gambles a LOT there...lol)

If not, we'll probably end up in Aruba...Hawaii would be a bit more expensive than Aruba, so that's really the 3rd option of the 3.

I've been to the Royal Bahamian Sandals resort in the bahamas twice and just came back from Sandals Negril in Jamaica.  Neither one had bed bugs.  I didn't hear any guests complain about them either thank god.  Both places have tons of choices of eats and drinks.  There are NO KIDS which is fabulous.  Sandals negril has scuba diving although we didn't go.  There are a lot of free water sports such as tubing, kyaking, water trikes, hobie cats, etc.  You can lie on the beach all you want and the weather is fabulous.  There are also a few pools.  My only complaint about Jamaica was that they really are on "island time" and in absolutely no rush whatsoever.  Good luck with your choices.

We went to Greece on our honeymoon. Santorini was amazing!
It sounds like Aruba is probably the best choice. In the past I have stayed at the Radisson there and it was absolutely wonderful!!! No bed bugs either <:

Did you look at the Bacutti in Aruba? That is where we are going! They are a smaller hotel on Eagle beach, not in the high rise area but close enough to go there for restaurants and shopping.  They are also an adults only hotel. Worth a look! Good luck!

We had our HM at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai.  Highly recommend it!  Info with pics in bio if you're interested.

Another place I highly recommend is the Excellence PuntaCana in the Dominican Republic.  A number of my friends had their HM and loved it, so DH and I went there for vacation last March.  It's an all-inclusive, adults only resort and it's super nice.  They have a great restaurant selection (I think 8 to choose from) plus 24hr room service.  They also don't skimp on the alcohol (e.g. come by on the beach or pool area to see if you want any drinks).  You should definitely check it out!

I have been searching for our honeymoon too and I found a website called unforgettablehoneymoon.com. They have been really helpful and accommodating to our price range and things we would like in a resort and stuff we want to do. I was nervous going with a travel agent thinking that they maybe more expensive than if I found it online but their prices were actually very reasonable.

We are going to Aruba in October for our honeymoon!  We looked into the Hyatt and they don't have accessible balconies, meaning you can't walk out on them!  It was kind of a deal breaker for us, especially if we want to unwind and just relax alone.  We are staying at the Radisson in Aruba.  Currently, they are having a huge 50% off sale for the rest of the month.  If you are interested in Aruba PM me.  I have a travel agent I used...and they were the cheapest I could find!

    Hi,

I have to second Bucuti in Aruba. Eagle Beach was voted one of the nicest in the world. Its gorgeous. They don't allow kids which is nice. Perfect honeymoon spot.
I went in December and it's where he proposed. It's definitely special but I'm biased!
