Best Casual Caterers in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts?

Hi ladies,


I looked back about 5 pages on this board and didn't find anything relevant so I thought I would ask for opinions and reccomendations for casual catering companys. :) My venue will likely be in Tiverton, Westport, or Little Compton and will be a casual affair.  We want GOOD food, but aren't into the plated, fancy-pants thing. We are, alas, also on a pretty strict budget for around 75 people. All the prices I've found were around 45 pp, not including booze.  Is there anything out there cheaper that won't sacrifice quality?

I've again googled and googled but can't seem to find anything but the fancy places.  I don't think we want to go full-on with a clam bake, but would be interested in a pig roast or grilled pizzas or other creative but casual things.

    Ayn caterer will be as fancy or as casual as you like-- check wth them on samples menus for a casual affair. Try atomic, they have neat stuff-- mashed potatoe bar, mini grilled cheeses, sliders, etc. if thats what you are looking for.

    A friend used Cozy Caterers, I know she got a great price because her budget was around $10k for around 100 people, she said they were very easy to work with and accommodating, and the food was good.

    B&M Clambake Co. We are not doing a clambake, but a mixed grill menu of marinated steak tips, grilled swordfish and the best Key lime chicken, with a "cherry bomb" salad (fresh mozz, romaine, basil, cukes, cherry tomatoes and a raspberry vinaigrette), roasted potatoes/onions, fresh seasonal grilled veggies, cornbread and rolls with butter, lemonade and coffee. After, they put plates of watermelon on the table. For 75, that menu is $37.99pp. If it's 76 to 100, it goes down to $35.99.

    We had our tasting before we even booked, and they even made some apps I had mentioned we were interested in. They boxed all the leftovers up and sent them home with us. I hear raves about them from other vendors. Their motto is nobody goes home hungry! :-)

    I used B&M too. We interviewed with Cozy and Morin, and their quotes came in way over what we wanted to pay - $60 to $70 a person. "Downscale" for those caterers seemed to mean giving very bare bones menu options; options that to us screamed "budget tier". B&M had a different vibe - since it is downscale, it felt like lots of food, and food that created a different impression than traditional caterers.

    I used Rochs Foods for catering a couple of years ago, not for a wedding, but for a conference and they were wonderful. I'm fairly sure that they will cater casual weddings. The food was very good and affordable, and the staff is wonderful to work with.
