Room blocks & guest bags

Hey there! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!Two questions1) If you're dealing with hotel room blocks, what are the rates you've found in downtown Mpls?2) Any ideas for gift bag contnets to give out-of-towners?

    I don't have any suggestions for Mpls hotel rooms.

    But these were our OOT bags:
    -Resuable Target shopping bag (99 cents each)
    -Welcome letter from us
    -Important phone numbers, suggestions for restaurants located near the hotels
    -MOA visitor's guide (got a bunch with all the tourism brochures when we were at the airport)
    -Pearson's Nut Goodie
    -Pearson's Nut Roll
    -Several Pearson's mint patties (all of these were purchased in bulk from Sam's Club)
    -Old Dutch chips (snack packs in various flavors)
    -General Mills cereal boxes (sample sizes)
    -1 Grain Belt Premium beer
    -1 Summit EPA beer
    -2 bottles of water (purchased in bulk from Sam's)

    Hmmm... I think that might be it :)

    I've found anywhere from $109/night to $179/night. The average was about $119/night at the three-star national chains. Our block at the Radisson Plaza is $119/night. Our first block at the Westin was $119/night and the second block (long story!) is $179/night (the hotel is nearly sold out for our wedding weekend).

    We used the "Meet Minneapolis" service, which was great. Hotels emailed us and gave us quotes on blocks instead of me having to do all the legwork.

    I also used the Meet Minneapolis service-
    I found as cheap as $99/night in downtown. I think this was at the Hilton Garden Inn.
    But once you fill out your info on Meet Minneapolis, you get like 20 offers within 24 hours.

    I just created a room block through my wedding venue, The Millennium Hotel, for $109 for a single and double, and $119 for a triple and quad. They were all VIP rooms and included free breakfast (which isn't normally included). I do have the details of the contract HERE.

    I was going to make OOT bags with lots of free brochures 2 bottles of water, 2 apples, some maps, and maybe a some nicer soaps for a $1 from Bath & Body Works. However, I had no OOT guests and the only one who booked a room in my room block was my dad! A lot of ppl booked rooms last minute after the room block had closed.
