Wedding Venues...HELP!!

Okay guys here's the deal...I need somewhere to have my wedding. my fiance and I met in college at Emory University. He's from GA and I'm from FL. The wedding would be ridiculously less expensive if we had it in Florida, but due to health issues in his family Atlanta seems like the option we have to go with. We have a humble budget for the wedding since he's about to go to medical school next year and I'm entering law school. Where on earth can I have a nice wedding without breaking the bank? Our budget is currently $6,000 - $7,000

Your budget is much higher than mine, hmmm check out the Red Barn in Canton, or let's see Le Jardin Blanc I don't think is too high, they are located in Douglasville. Do a google search and you'll find a lot, there are some really nice Antebellum homes around that are reasonable. I am doing a DIY wedding at a park in Douglasville.

Thanks for all the input you guys! I'm trying to find closer to Atlanta, Midtown, Decatur, or more on the outskirts like Conyers, Covington, Monroe, Madison, etc. A lot of people are coming from the East of Atlanta (Augusta, Rockdale County, etc.) so I don't want it to be too far away. Also it has to accommodate roughly 125 people and no outdoor weddings because I can't be out in the sun for too long for medical reasons.

Try the Dallas Civic Center. The reception room accomodates 200, and rents for about $650. They have a cool old theater where you could have the ceremony, which is about $400 or so.

I don't have any ideas for you, but I can tell you to make sure you consider the venue's minimum. When I picked my venue, I didn't realize it was that expensive until I realized they have a food and beverage minimum of $6,000!

Try the Old COurt house on the Square in Decatur. Thats where I am getting married. You can bring your own alcohol and you choose from a list of caterers. It is a beautiful venue and you can do all the decorating yourself. Leslie is very nice and easy to work with. And if you choose a Sunday or Friday Wedding you save even more money!

The Solarium in Decatur may be worth looking into http://www.thesolarium.com/solarium_rentalinfo.html or the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center: http://www.thecontemporary.org/about/event-rental/. Both are cool venues and let you bring in your own catering and alcohol so you can save a lot of money there. For most places if you're open to a Friday or a Sunday wedding you'll save a lot of money that way too. I've also heard that Rhodes Hall is reasonable, but probably only on an off day. Best of luck to you!

I am having my ceremony at the Glenn Memorial church on Emory campus, Emory students get a discount, and my reception at the Sloppy Floyd across from the state capitol.  It is a government building and it is very reasonable.  The rental fee is 500-750 I think and it has a beautiful view of Atlanta.  There is a food and beverage minimum I think for certain days though.  It needs some decoration but you can't beat the price and the amazing view.

Wow!!! Sounds almost like my situation. I live in FL and FI lives in GA. However, he is currently in Iraq and I am planning alone. We agreed on small and intimate and trying for a budget between $7000-10,000, preferrably sticking closer to 7 because I have to relocate to GA, etc...Anywho, I had my heart set on Leu Gardens here in Orlando and we are now having some conflict about his family who mostly resides in NC having to travel here where most of my guests reside. He has even propsed that he would be willing to increase the budget it we moved the wedding further north so his family, some of who are older and unable to travel may attend. It is tough enough to have to plan and attend consults alone. Now I am in between even knowing what to do. He knows that I am set on getting married here because I want to get married in the garden. I know Atlanta has some similar venues, but are probably way more expensive?? I'm not sure. I think if I had to change the venues to another location, that it would be Atlanta and not any further than that. I don't have a clue about vendors, etc....all this to say....please keep me posted too if/when you find something. BTW...what part of FL are you from?
Thanks for letting me kinda vent...sorry....this is all fresh for me and I'm still trying to process it :-)

    Hello,
I'm a Wedding Planner in the Atlanta Area.  In the area your looking you have a couple of diffrent locations that are close by.  With your Budget being a little tight a Friday or Sunday Wedding will give you a little wiggle room to get more bang for your buck.  There is the Cotton Warehouse in Monroe GA, Tucker Plantation in Colbert GA, but my favorite place who will work with your budget is the Thompson House and Gardens in Bogart GA this one is 20 min from Monroe east close to Athens lots of affordable hotels in the area.  If you contact any of these venues let them no I sent you there.

    Thanks,
